Rain
Rain
Maya looked at the rain falling incessantly from the afternoon. She heard her mother say, " This rain will wash all the pollution from the environment!". She wondered to herself, "Only the environment, Ma, not from people's minds".
She looked at the pristine raindrops against the dark, moonlit background of the night. She related it to her misery and she felt that on her behalf, the sky was releasing all of its bottled-up emotions.
And during the lockdown, it was even more depressive- no change of venue, and no change of faces, until a few days ago when they came to meet her. She was on the verge of tears.
Then she heard her Ma call, "Maya open your laptop, it's time for class!"
Her bottled-up emotions remained the same. The dark sky with clouds looked patched up with an immense effort to stop it from breaking.
But there was no patch for the heart, was there?
