Riya, an young teenage girl from a middle-class family always wondered as why is money so important to live in this world. Oftentimes, she would think that earning money is only important for us to fulfill our materialistic needs and desires.

It was only until she reached adulthood that she understood the real value of money in our society. She understood that, without money there's no respect, no friends or well wishers for you in this society. If you are rich, everyone will pretend to be your friend. But, if you are poor, even people who you have known for years will refuse to be called as your friend or dear ones. She, then understood how important money is for one to have respect in our society. Without money, a person has no identity.

After a few years, when she was in her early twenties and observed lives of certain people more closely, she understood the importance of money again from a different perspective. She saw so many poor little children couldn't afford proper food , proper clothes and proper education only because of lack of money. She saw so many people suffering from deadly diseases unable to afford treatment only because of lack of money. Seeing these people suffering, she often felt that if she could have had enough money she would have been ended all the sufferings that lack of money caused in the lives of these people. She then felt that money has the power to alter lives of people.

It was then, she understood that money is just not required for fulfilling our materialistic needs or for gaining respect in society, but also, if seen from another perspective, earning enough money would help us in giving back to society. Earning enough money would help us cure sufferings of people and let us serve our society. She understood that , eventhough buying luxurious items with our earned money can give us happiness, but it can't give us peace. We can attain peace only when we choose to serve the society with our hard earned money. Thus, even though, we don't know if money can or cannot buy happiness, but it can reduce sufferings and buy "peace" for sure.
