Operation Spider: Chapter 2

                 

This story is based on the author’s fiction. It does not apply to any historical references and real-life incidents. It’s the continuation of my previous story, Operation Spider: Chapter 1.

Additionally, this story continues to adapt non-linear narration instead of linear narration.

Mumbai Police Headquarters

Around 3:30 AM in Mumbai, Sai Adhithya met his friend Vikash Krish at the police department of Mumbai in order to meet DSP Shyam Keshavan. Since then, he called them both for an important mission, that needs to be accomplished as per the instructions of the Central Government.

“Sir, why have you called us to Mumbai?” asked Sai Adhithya to which Shyam said: “Adhithya. Our department needs you and Vikash’s help for an important mission that needs to be accomplished soon.”

Sai Adhithya didn’t listen to instructions of Shyam. He instead smoked his cigar under the watch of Vikash Krish and Shyam.

“What are you doing, Adhi?” asked Vikash Krish. Looking at him, he replied: “Can’t you guess what I am doing? I am smoking my cigar man!”

Shyam came near to Adhithya and stared at him for a while. He then said: “I know why you are angry. Your wife was killed by a criminal and you wish to take care of your child.” He further added: “If you finish this mission, I will let you and your friend Vikash go scot-free. You can spend enough time with your family.” However, the guys are stubborn to resign their job. Left with no way out, he showed the guys a file, which shocked both Vikash and Adhithya.

“You know what are these files? It’s all about your fake encounters with notorious criminals when you both were in Bangalore. If I intend, I can give a black mark for your whole life. But I need your support for this mission. Kindly please co-operate with us.” Shyam pleads with them. Concerning the life of their children, the guys accept the decision and move to the Coimbatore district, where the mission is to be accomplished.

Saravanampatti, Coimbatore

4:30 AM

At present around 4:30 AM, Rishi Khanna severely vomits in his bathroom and dehydrates. His body shivered and eventually he fainted due to a headache, in his hostel room.

9:30 AM

“Sir, that student, Rishi Khanna, fainted due to dengue fever at 4:30 AM. He is in ICU at KMCH hospitals.” An employee informed Mahendralingam, who had been looked curiously by Vijayendra Ilavalagan, who interviewed Rishi Khanna about Operation Spider.

In the hospital, the doctors said: “Due to low number of platelets, his health is very weak. His immunity level is low. To be very honest, his condition is a little serious. Let’s hope for the best.” Mahendralingam asked the doctor: “Doctor, does he have any relatives?”

 “They are yet to come. But now his estranged best friend is there. Adhithya Krishna.” Going near to him, Vijayendran said: “Hi. I am Vijayendra Ilavalagan. I am sorry about your best friend. I hope he recovers soon. He was a good guy.”

Sitra Airport, Coimbatore District

8:30 AM

After recovering from a severe viral fever, Adhithya had been planning to meet his Hindu community of Swaraj Swayamsevak Sangh friends in Ram Nagar. While getting ready, he gets a call from his friend Bharath A.P, whose girlfriend Trisha wanted to drive his scooter for practice. He happily agreed to this and gave his scooter to them after the reluctant allowance from his mother. At the backgate of his college, he gave his scooter to Bharath and waited for a few minutes.

At that time, he saw his friend Sanjay’s missed call more than six times and called him. Sanjay lashed out at him for delays and informed him about Rishi’s admission in ICU. This completely shocked Adhithya. At the same time, Bharath gave back his scooter. Looking at a tensed Adhi, Bharath asked: “Why da? What happened?”

“Nothing da. I have to go for KMCH immediately.” He said and further told us about Rishi’s dengue fever. Adhi rushed to the spot, followed by Bharath and Trisha on the bike.

Present

At present, Adhithya asked Vijayendran: “How do you know my friend?”

“Your friend has authored a book. We interviewed him few months ago. He narrated half of the story and wasn’t able to complete it due to his schedule and work in college. Today he was supposed to finish the story. But, I guess, it will remain unfinished.” Adhithya looked at Rishi Khanna in the ICU and then had a glance at Bharath. Recalling some of the memorable times he spent with him, he stopped Vijayendran by telling: “I am not sure if he was a good guy or not. But I am very sure that he was not a good friend not a best friend. During my college days, I remember him betraying me and my other friend. He never regretted his notorious actions. He had no idea when I joined SSS, despite his strong oppositions. Not that I care. He doesn’t shed a tear when my friend died due to alcoholism and didn’t feel guilty that, he was solely responsible for his drinking habits. In fact, when I ended his friendship, he never noticed or cared about it. I am seeing him after 2 long years as a post-graduate student.” Once again, Adhithya looked at the ICU.

“But all that mattered to him was that story. Story of Operation Spider. The story of Narcotics Control Bureau. I don’t know whether it’s a fact or fiction. But he lived for that story, and it cannot go unfinished.”

“Then means, are you telling rest of this story?” asked Vijayendran to which Adhithya said: “He will only narrate.” Adhithya takes Vijayendran to his house, where they enter into a dark room, that contains important news about raids in Delhi, Coimbatore, and Mumbai. He never allowed his own parents and family to enter this room.

Bharath initially refused. Insisted by Trisha, he goes to Adhithya’s house and is terribly shocked to look at the dark room, which he had never seen before. When Vijayendran asked whether he believed these things to be true and accurate, Adhithya said: “Sir. During my childhood days, I was a mad-cinema lover. As days passed, I slowly realized: Indian Army and IPS officers are the real heroes of this nation. This is one of the jobs, that had been done by these brave officers. It seems you are not keen to hear what’s Operation Spider. The story seems to be interesting. So, you have come. Right?”

“A democratic nation amidst a1200 million population, such a vast operation, such a big mission. I am not only concerned about how it was made possible...” As everyone looked around her, he added: “But also curious about who won there.”

Silent for a while, Adhithya continued his words. He said: “Wars are waged for the sake of history. Victories are achieved to create history. History always wins. And somewhere hidden in those pages of history is the biggest kept secret in the history of India! Operation...Spider!”

Listened to an eager Bharath and Trisha, Adhithya looked at Vijayendran and started to tell about Operation Spider.

Narcotics Squad

Coimbatore Police’s narcotics squad in Outer North district has arrested two men and seized from them six-kilogram high-quality heroin valued at Rs. 18 crores in the international market. The arrested men belong to a major drug syndicate. But the leader of this syndicate and its location remained a debate and suspense to majority of police officers.

From CBI officers to Narcotics Control Bureau, everyone was keen to investigate this case alongside Rishi Khanna and myself.

Present

“You also?” asked Vijayendran to which, Adhithya said: “No. I was eager to know about Operation Spider and the problems of drugs.”

“Ok. What happened after Yogendran died?” asked Vijayendran.

Bangalore

Sai Adhithya met his father in his office and asked him: “As usual, you came here from the office, right!”

“Those bird cages won’t set for me. Do you feel safe to stay here?”

“As a police officer, I have danger all over. I can’t survive in this world if I see those things.” Sai Adhithya requests his father to take care of his daughter Maanya and gives the gifts, he brought for her.

“Just bringing gifts and dress is not enough Sai Adhithya. You have to shower your love and affection on her dad.”

“I am doing what you thought I was doing in my life. I am not doing anything as I wished.”

“I didn’t ask you to encounter.”

“You asked me to clean up the corrupt people and societal evils. Hence, I joined the police department. Once in this job, I can’t move out dad.” Later, Sai Adhithya revealed to his father that: “This is the last mission, on which he and Vikash Krish will work. After this, he is going to take care of his daughter entirely.” His father happily agreed and let him go for this mission.

Four years later

March 2020

Coimbatore

Four years later, Vikash Krish and Sai Adhithya were working as undercover cops in Coimbatore as said by Shyam Keshavan. In Mumbai, they were working with Nikhil and Arul Adhithya (the latter was killed, when the gang learned of him as an undercover cop, leading to a huge war) to nab Ramesh Singh and his arch-rival Naidu. Both of them were notorious smugglers, having close connections with Afghanistan, Indonesia, Afro-America and Sri Lankan smugglers. Since in developed countries such as Canada, Europe, USA, UK and Australia, drug enforcement agencies were raiding the smugglers in the country and they wanted a safe zone, which is revealed to be Mumbai.

Slowly, the city became the “cocaine capital of India.” From potassium permanganate to methamphetamine, the international business is worth 1,500 crores. (For reference- Kindly refer to my previous story Knight) After eliminating Singh Nikhil, Vikash Krish and Sai Adhithya met Harichandra Prasad, who wanted these people to go undercover in order to eliminate the unseen and unnamed mafia leaders, counted to be around 100’s. However, Harshitha was killed under mysterious circumstances by few gangs in Daravi, causing Nikhil to disappear from Mumbai and become a vigilante. This further risked the mission: “Operation Spider” and put difficulties for Vikash Krish and Adhithya to find out the main kingpin of Drug Mafia.

Present

Vijayendran was completely shocked after hearing this. He asked: “So, the drug peddlers won once again, and police officers were defeated?”

“No mam. The cat-and-mouse game have just now started between the drug peddlers.”

Racecourse Road, Coimbatore District

After arresting two men and seizing from them six kilograms of high-quality heroin, the officers left the guys under the custody of Vikash Krish and Sai Adhithya. The same time, Shyam called the guys and said: “Listen guys. The arrested men belong to a major drug syndicate. He is very important to us.”

After severe interrogation and brutal torture, the guys learn the two names are as Asim and Varun. Sai Adhithya asked the guys: “Tell, who your drug cartel kingpin da. Tell us!”

“Bhola sir…”

“What?” asked Vikash Krish to which, Varun said: “Bhola sir. Initially, he was a drug supplier in Sultanpuri. Later, he did the business widespread all-over Indian states and maintained a power for himself.” The two arrests were made under Operation Spider, initiated specially to crack down on active drug cartels. Under it, information about the drug users and its suppliers are gathered and a dense web is woven on the basis of these inputs to catch them.

Present

Meanwhile, Vijayendran asked Adhithya: “Ok. Let this mission be asides. How you and your friend Rishi know these missions?”

“I and Rishi were active in NCC and NSS. We wanted to know more about police officers and Indian Army officers. On such project, we met Shyam Keshavan sir in Mumbai. Being impressed with our social works and activities as an NCC officers, Shyam sir assigned an important task for us to accompany Vikash Krish sir and Sai Adhithya sir for their mission Operation Spider.”

Coimbatore District

The criminals were raided leading to the recovery of a huge quantity of drugs. It has been established that the network of the drug mafia in Coimbatore and surrounding states has links with northeastern states. Efforts were made to unearth more connections.

“Adhithya. Shall we play a game?” asked Vikash to which, Adhithya asked: “With this serious issue in hands, should we have to play a game definitely?” However, he laughed and took him to Racecourse Road, where a few political party members were beaten up and attacked brutally as they raised questions against the usage of alcohol and drugs in afternoon. Posing as a novelist, Vikash interrogated about Bhola all over the district of Coimbatore. He comes to know from the police department that: “He was an MBA graduate. He was wanted in nine cases and carried a reward of Rs. 15 lakh when he was arrested earlier by the police of Kuniyamuthur.”

“Sir, to keep a clean image, Bhola used to help some needy people with the money he earned through drug peddling. After his previous arrest, Bhola, who supplied drugs in large quantities to Mumbai, Delhi and surrounding states, and his henchman engaged in the same work.” A common man and another police constable said to Vikash Krish.

Present

At present, Vijayendra Illavalagan questioned Adhithya: “They invented a new way of making drugs?”

Looking at his face, he replied: “Yes sir. They set up a plant at home. In this process, 7.8 kg morphin base and 3.9 kg white heroin were prepared from about 70 kg opium, which is high-quality heroin, and was distributed in small consignments in the states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana, and even to drug dealers.”

15 October 2020

Coimbatore

On 15^th October 2020, after meeting Shyam, Vikash forms a new team with Yash (a police officer in Mumbai) in Coimbatore Narcotics branch secretly. Adhithya drives the team around the first level to arrest important drug dealers and peddlers in the city. As per the plan, they arrest the drug peddlers in college and school areas. Then, in the second level, Bhola gets alarmed about the arrests by some crooked politicians in Tamilnadu, forcing Vikash to stop the mission.

Bhola, Vikash and Adhithya meet face to face in Kuniyamuthur Lake. There, Bhola says: “Whatever mission they try to do, he could manage to maintain the image of Robinhood in the minds of people, who can be fooled easily.”

“People are poor sir. It’s truth. But they are not fool as you prescribed. Once they realize the truth, you guys and crooked politicians, can’t even survive at any point of time in this country.” Vikash challenged him openly and said, “I will make you to a dustbowl Bhola. Get ready.” Unexpected by Bhola, Vikash takes an extreme step at this point of time. He and his team encountered drug peddlers unofficially in many places of Coimbatore and outside the district brutally, in front of many people’s eyes.

The henchman and drug mafia leaders, who feared for Bhola joined hands with his arch-rival Ishaan, a big crime boss and kingpin in Mumbai (Kindly refer to the story The Dark Knight). Angry and being thirst for power and greed, Bhola kills one of Adhithya-Vikash Krish’s teammates in front of people’s eyes in the public of Coimbatore district.

This caused a widespread outrage in the police department. They plan an unofficial mission to encounter all rowdies, so that, “One could fear if he tries to harm a policeman.” As a part of this mission, Vikash proceeds to kill Bhola’s important members and also Nagoor Meeran, Bhola’s younger brother. Angered and dejected, he meets Adhithya and has a violent duel with him.

However, Adhithya managed to kill Bhola’s henchman. But he stabs him in the back. Adhithya is beaten up severely and stabbed for multiples of times. Afterwards, Bhola left him for death. Vikash arrives at a nick point of time where, he tries to save Adhithya. Before dying, Adhi requests him to take care of his daughter Maanya and died in his arms. Feeling guilt and emotional, Vikash cried in anger and agony. He shouted angrily.

Present

“Once again, the mission has failed miserably. What will happen to Vikash? Will he win this mission or not?” Vijayendran said in frustration.

Adhithya looked at him in surprise.

25 November 2020

Bangalore

A few days after the death of Adhithya, Vikash distanced himself from Operation Spider in order to take care of his daughter and Adhithya’s daughter. However, Adhithya’s father insists on proceeding with the mission and let him take care of the children. Since, it’s not only Vikash’s dream. But also, Adhithya’s dreams to eliminate the drug mafia leaders. Motivated, Vikash joined hands with Yash, and they continued to kill several drug dealers in college. This caused Bhola to kill Yash.

Angered, Vikash meets face-to-face with Bhola in the reserved forest areas of Walayar. There, he gets injured severely and stabbed for two times in his left chest and abdomen. However, he wakes up steadily and he overpowers Bhola. After shooting him in the left chest, right arm and knee, he left him for a few minutes to see his house, getting blasted. Since he kept the drug basement camp in that place. After this, Vikash kills him by shooting him in the head and lay unconscious, after seeing the reflection of his wife Kaviya and Adhithya smiling at him.

Present

At present, Adhithya Krishna’s face and Vijayendra's face become sad. Bharath and Trisha had tears in their eyes. Now, Adhithya Krishna said: “After the mission, Adhithya and the co-officers, who died in Operation Spider were cremated with full state honor.” After thinking for a while, Adhithya said: “A few days later, Vikash eventually succumbed to his injuries. Shyam mourned his death and arranged for full state honors. The officers were awarded for their brave action against the drug mafia.” 

January 2022

Few days later

Meeting Shyam, Rishi Khanna said in tears with the evidence of Operation Spider in his table: “People are born empty-handed, and people go empty handed when they die. But he took everything along with him when he died.”

People will not forget the two’s brave act against the drug mafia until their last breath.

“I will write a book about Operation Spider and let the whole world know about him. However long it takes, I will collect each and every evidence and narrate with proof.”

“What do you want to say da?” asked Shyam, who is saddened by the death of these two brave officers.

Present

“If my friend Rishi is there in this place, it wouldn’t be a story of mythological creatures and warriors from ancient times or as a story of historical wars and achievements. Two police officers from small city of Bangalore and the story of their determination to serve our nation would have been his narration. There is no history of water giving rise to fire. But from the tears of people because of the drug mafia, a fire was born and so was the legacy of Operation Spider.”

Few hours later

A few hours later, Adhithya Krishna left the channel after thanking Vijayendran to visit his recovering friend Rishi Khanna in KMCH hospitals. While going with Bharath and Trisha, Bharath asked him: “Tell me the truth Adhithya. Is Vikash sir really dead or you fabricated it?”

Trisha too questioned him with a tight trap.

Kuniyamuthur

After killing Bhola, Vikash layed unconscious at Walayar. There, Adhithya Krishna and Rishi rushed. They took him to the hospital and retrieved his injuries. Shyam arrived at a nick of time at the hospitals.

Vikash requests Shyam to lie the media that, “He is dead.” Since he wishes to work as an undercover officer to eliminate drug dealers all over the world so that, the society can be peaceful. He eventually accepts it.

Present

Coming back to the present, as Bharath and Trisha pressured him, Adhithya said them: “It’s good if some truths aren’t known to the public, my friends.” As the KMCH hospitals arrived, they proceed to meet Rishi Khanna.

Few days later

15 October 2022

Mumbai

4:30 PM

Meanwhile, around 4:30 PM, Vikash Krish meets Akhil, Sai Adhithya Nair, and Akash Kumar on the outskirts of Mumbai to discuss an important meeting held by Ishaan in the future with a dangerous drug lord from the LTTE of Sri Lanka. They proceed to accomplish their next target (or mission) after speaking with Shyam.
