NIGHTMARE

The sun began its journey from east to west. Jack lied on his bed, still half asleep. "Wake up Jack. Grandma is ill. I and your father are leaving to visit her. You'll have to take care of your sister today." his mother informed as she pulled away Jack's bed sheet. She was dressed in a simple, red, cotton saree."I'll come with you mummy. Take me along." his sister Liya pleaded as usual. Jack fell back on the bed. He was used to this.

About an hour later he woke up to find his sister staring at him. Her hair was open, covering her face. She was dressed in a dark, black gown. "Eh! you scare me! why didn't you go with mom and dad?!" he asked. She did not reply. She stood up and walked out of the room. Sometime later, he asked her to fetch him a bottle of juice from the refrigerator. There was no reply. He flounced to the living room, only to find her staring at the disconnected television. "How many times should I call you. Why are you staring at the black screen? Weirdo!" he said and walked away with the bottle of juice.

Not sooner, he walked to the living room, and she was still there; staring at the black screen. Her hair rested on her face. She was breathing heavily. "LIYA." He called out loud in the harshest voice ever possible. She did not look back. "LIYA." he called out to her once again. This time the lights went off and on endlessly. A strange smell began spreading throughout the room. The unplugged TV switched on; all by itself. What was displayed on the screen was nerve pricking. He could see exactly what was happening there, on the television. "What's happening here? Stop these pranks Liya" Jack gasped. Liya began laughing horrifically. "HA HA HA HA HA." She laughed out loud, cunningly. Moving her head up and down. Jack was horrified. He ran towards his room and shut the door, only to find Liya there too. With her hair open. Staring at him. He screamed out loud, opened the door and Liya stood outside staring at him. He turned back and she was there yet. 'Both the Liyas' walked towards him. Breathing heavily; their fingers wide open towards his neck. "Eh. stop this hogwash," he yelled. 'Both the Liyas.' held his neck tight, laughing out loud. "Ah!" he shrieked as she lifted him upholding his neck. His legs tried to kick her off. But. He. Couldn't.

"Jack. Jack. wake up jack. Grandma is ill. I and your father are leaving to visit her. You'll have to take care of your sister today." He heard his mother say. WAS THIS A NIGHTMARE??

His mother was dressed in the same red, cotton saree. "It's just a coincidence." He tried convincing himself. "I'll come with you mummy. Take me along." his sister Liya pleaded. "She usually does that. It has nothing to do with the nightmare," he said to himself.

About an hour later he woke up to find his sister staring at him. Her hair was open, covering her face. She was dressed in a dark, black gown.
