Born To Lead

One could look at Rahul’s face and say how Anxious he was. He bumped onto the couch and tied his shoelace. The fact that he forgot his socks could be justified by his curiosity to hold the promotion letter in his hands. “Why have you switched on the lights?” His mom enquired as she walked out of the bed, rubbing her eyes, still half asleep. “Mom, don’t you know what’s special today. I’m so excited.” Rahul boasted. “It’s half past six now! the factory opens at 10’oclock, and you're already dressed up” Mom is exhausted. “I just couldn’t sleep. I’m really eager. You know how hard I worked for it.” Rahul jabbered as he looked at the mirror combing his hair nervously. “you’ve been working hard all night for months. I’m sure you’ll get the promotion, but….” Mom’s words seemed to be dying as she spoke. “But, what? I worked so hard and I deserve this so much.” Rahul spoke unmindfully. “Yeah, you’re right. But, always remember that whatever happens, happens for good.” Rahul looked at his mum as he spoke “I know, my promotion is for our good.”

That evening did not go as he expected. Rahul wasn’t promoted but, he lost his job instead. He threw his bag as he trudged home. “you don’t look fine today. Are you alright?” his mum enquired. Rahul spoke with pain “mom, I believe I’ve told you about Ajay, he’s my boss's nephew. He wanted the promotion too. When we were asked to work together, he would often rest, and ask me to work alone. We had many quarrels lately and today my Boss gave the promotion to his nephew and, Ajay fired me as soon as he got promoted.” Rahul was devastated he was the one who worked hard and it’s Ajay who got promoted. His mother tried to calm him down but in vain.

A few months later, Rahul got a call from one of his friends who worked with him earlier. He was shocked to learn that Though it was a holiday, a meeting was held only for the higher officials in the factory where he used to work, and unfortunately, there was a fire accident which caused the death of two officials and the others were severely injured. The factory was destroyed and all other employees lost their job. He rushed to his mom and informed her of the news.

After listening to everything his mother replied, “Rahul, I told you everything that happens, happens for good. You were not promoted therefore you were saved from the meeting of the higher officials and the fire accident; you lost your job so; you started a business and now you earn huge profits. Now, for the employees, your boss wasn’t able to offer a good salary to them but, now you can give job opportunities to everyone who lost their job because of the accident and offer them a much better salary. Ajay is also unemployed and injured now. You’ll have to forgive him and offer him a job too so; he’ll be free of enmity also he’ll get a good friend and a wonderful place to work.” Rahul was overjoyed, he had learned a huge lesson.

Moral: one cannot predict the future, there is no use in thinking of the past. Everything that happens, happens for good, if one accepts this, life will be amazing.
