My scary neighbor
My scary neighbor
My next door neighbor has always been a mysterious figure. But she began revealing her secrets on Halloween night.....
I am Audrey, and I live in a horror story. Not exactly, but it is like living in a horror story. My neighbor is really weird. Yesterday I could hear spooky voices from her room. She has a big, old house and a withered garden. Usually she lives alone, but sometimes she has spooky visitors. I swear I saw a floating blue ball going in her house once. The one they show in movies and cartoons, which looks like a blue fire. Yeah, I saw that!
Today is Halloween. I, Ellie and Daizy are alone at my house. My parents have gone out for important work, so they will be back till tomorrow. Right now, we are cuddled on the sofa, talking about which costume to wear.
'Guys, I have an idea!' Ellie said, jumping up.
'What?' Daizy and I asked curiously.
'We can sneak in your neighbor's house. What is her name?' Ellie asked.
'We call her aunt Annie,' I replied quickly, 'but she is very spooky and sneaking into her house would be dangerous.'
'Come on, it's Halloween!' Daizy said. 'And we can do it now, it's just 4 pm, and not so dark, right?'
'O-kay.' I said uncertainly.
We sneaked through the gates. Aunt Annie had not done any Halloween decorations.
'Is her door unlocked?' Ellie whispered.
'Maybe.' I replied.
My heart thumped, as slowly and quietly, Daizy turned the door knob. It was eerily quiet. We crept in.
I had never been in Aunt Annie's house. The floor was dusty and wooden and creaked when someone walked. There were cobwebs in every corner, and a very big staircase.
'Let's go up.' Ellie suggested.
'I don't think that's a good idea.' I said nervously.
'Come on, don't be a scaredy cat.' Daizy hissed.
We nervously climbed up, the stairs creaking beneath us.
'I can hear violin.' I noted.
Yes, we all could. Someone was playing a violin. We crept into the room.
Aunt Annie was sitting on a stool, playing the violin. Her back was towards us.
I gulped as she stopped playing the violin.
'What are you doing here?' She asked in a tragic and scary sort of way.
I screamed to death. I was so stunned that Daizy and Ellie had to drag me out of the house.
'That voice was so scary.' Daizy blurted when we were back home.
'Have you EVER seen her face?' Ellie quired.
'No.' I said. 'She moved here just a few weeks ago. She doesn't come out of her house.'
'We WILL investigate this.' Ellie said bravely.
*time skip*
It was midnight, and we were still in our costumes, on the streets, gathering toffees.
'Maybe we should go to your neighbor NOW.' Daizy suggested.
'Okay, let's go!' Ellie urged. I had no choice but to follow them.
I nervously knocked on the door and said, 'Trick or treat?'
The door opened, and we could see her face. That was the last thing I wanted to see. Her face was wrinkled, like a tissue paper, and that was the scariest thing in the world. I am not kidding.
'Go away!' She growled, showing off her big bloody teeth.
I, Daizy and Ellie screamed together, and ran off to my house.
*the next day*
The face is still giving me nightmares.
'That was the meanest face I ever saw.' Ellie said. She seemed scared too.
'Yeah.' Daizy agreed. 'Now I believe in ghosts.'
From that day, Aunt Annie was nowhere to be seen, and the house was abandoned. I can still hear the screams and the sound of her violin........
