My Outbreak Against Outbreaks

My Outbreak Against Outbreaks

It has been raining Outbreaks in India since the beginning of 2020 which may go in Indian history as the inglorious year of outbreaks!

We have had several outbreaks to date since the beginning of the year such as Mob outbreak against NRC, COVID-19 outbreak, Migrants outbreak, Locusts outbreak, Chinese outbreak or aggression at the border, and also emotional or stress outbreak which has taken its toll and not even spared the celebrities!

We are still in the middle of the year and God knows how many more outbreaks we will be experiencing or witnessing. It is difficult to say whether we are getting used to outbreaks or vice versa!

I consider outbreak as one type of revolution which takes an ugly turn and hence needs to be tackled firmly & smartly. Real & true disaster management is all about having a sixth sense & a dog's instinct in order to anticipate or guess the arrival of an outbreak so as to nip it in the bud and stalemate it before it assumes dangerous and demonic proportion.

I still remember the training lessons that I undertook during my professional stint at India Administrative Staff College (Hyderabad) and one of the topics of training was: " how do we deal with scientific problems that emerge in the field of duty ". The tutor (Management Guru) while asking us to treat the scientific or technical problem as our enemy, wrote the following 3 golden rules in the whiteboard :

● Do not underestimate the enemy

● Do not overestimate the enemy

● Do not ignore the enemy

My final call: Let us identify, respect, and destroy the enemy!
