Motherhood

Motherhood

He placed the flower bouquet on her grave as his eyes welled up. The sun gave last of its rays and exited the horizon. With the last and then most precious family member gone David felt dead inside. The dark clouds, heavy rain and thunder matched his emotions and he felt that his mother was watching him far away. That is what his mother taught David when his Dad died when he was young.

“Look son, your dad is watching from you from far away in the stars.”

I would wave at him aimlessly and wait for him to wave back. Mum never allow sadness to affect me. She truly was the definition of an angel. I guess every mother is an angel for their kid. Motherhood is a special thing, isn’t it? David bent down his knees and started to speak to his mum.

“I don’t know if you can hear me, mum. You are millions of miles away as a star. Hope you found dad. How is he by the way? Tell him I said hi and tell him his son tried his best to be like him. Tell him his son is an Olympic gold medalist and Number 2 in the world in swimming. Of course, the No.1 spot will be always his. Enough about the old man mum. Haha.

I came here today looking at your tomb and I wish that I would have spent more time with you during that summer vacation, massaged your legs for extra five minutes, irritated you lesser, allowed to you sleep for another half an hour more as a child, appreciated little more of your food, and smile wider for you. Blood, sweat and tears do not even begin to describe the sacrifices you have done for me. I don't think any combination of the 26 letters of the English alphabet can describe the gratitude I have for you. Be assured that your wish of your son always being happy is being fulfilled now and forever.
