Recently I saw an Instagram post that devastated me - mentally, physically, emotionally.

Who created it? None of my business! As long as people found it okay to spread it makes me utterly sad and angry.

Do I know if the information is authentic? Well, even if the wildest imagination approved of the post, it is scary. The way the post got likes, shares and many, many shares itself is depressing.

The post has the picture of an ailing mother in the kitchen. She is seen cooking for her family despite being on "oxygen support". The text reads, " unconditional love."

Even in this day and age, after innumerable women and men have fought for equality and respect, we still have evil minds that think "cooking" is and will always be a woman 's job especially so a mother's. No matter what!! Further, no matter how excruciatingly painful and acutely difficult it is for the mother, she has to "perform her duties with so-called unconditional love" while the rest of the team glorify the whole process and give her scores for a splendid job. Oh my God!

It's high time we as a society learn from important moments like these- people and more so the kids should be initiated into respecting a mother and her welfare as a foremost responsibility. We should know that there is no "man-job" and "woman-job" and it should all be shared. At the earliest we must all learn to be hands-on not only in our primary duties but also home care, kitchen work, personal care and supporting one another without inhibitions and reservations. We should contain rather instantly, our need to be served with "unconditional love" in bizarre circumstances.

The sooner we transform the better it is for us and the loving mothers.

In the meantime, what is the most recent special thing you have done to your mother? May be you should right away!
