Memory Lane

In a small city, there lived a girl called Meena. She had a younger brother and a younger sister. Her parents were not well-off, but there was no scarcity of food, clothes, and their own house. Her father was a clerk in the state government. As soon as she entered the 10th standard, her father retired. Since he had the responsibility of marrying off two daughters, he decided to marry his eldest daughter to his nephew after she turned 18 years old.

When she started her first year of graduation, she was married off. Her husband was very strict, so she was afraid to confide in him. She went down memory lane and realized that even though her parents were not well-off, they would invite their siblings, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other relatives to their house for festivals, functions, and simple get-togethers. They would serve them many delicacies, including non-vegetarian meals. All the children would interact with each other, and the word "boring" was rarely mentioned. She came from such a social family, but now she found herself in a lonely family with only her husband and herself. She missed the teasing of her cousins, the laughter, and the playfulness that was present with everyone. Her life became centred around daily chores and resting until her husband returned from the office. She truly missed visiting her cousins' houses every weekend. In the past, she used to feel like a princess because everyone cared for her. However, now if she asked her husband to visit her cousin's place, he would scold her, saying that he needed to rest on weekends. She also missed visiting places with her aunts and uncles. Back then, she used to feel on top of the world when she was with them. This made her very depressed. Moreover, she was the apple of her relatives' eyes because she excelled in her studies and set an example for her cousins.

After three years had passed, she gave birth to a cute little baby girl. Her life took a turn for the better, and she once again found happiness.
