Once upon a time in the land of Lopa lived the most richest King and Queen who reaped their profits yearly from a bountiful crop grown by the farmers of their kingdom. The King and Queen had everything except a baby to continue their lineage. They consulted astrologers from far and wide with no positive result. At last, they performed Yagna to appease the Gods into granting them a baby. A month had passed after the completion of the yagna when the queen became pregnant. There was great rejoicing in the kingdom. After Nine months the queen gave birth to a beautiful and healthy girl baby. The physician attending the queen told her that the baby was the first and last child of the Royal couple. If they tried to conceive again the queen's life would be in danger.

So the Royal couple loved their child like a goddess and bestowed her with everything. This made the princess haughty and naughty. She always tricked the maids attending her by doing various naughty things like hiding the items, making them fall when they brought her food or drinks etc. There was no one present in the king's royal court or a citizen of the kingdom to complain about her to the king and the queen because the royal couple advised them to adjust to the princess. This went on for almost 15-18years when everyone loathed to visit the princess and come near her.

One day a prince from the neighbouring kingdom visited their kingdom asking for the princess's hand in marriage. The princess readily agreed to marry him because he had a pleasing personality. But when she was with him she proceeded to execute a nasty trick by pushing the prince into the lake. The prince was surprised and since he knew swimming he came out and without revealing anything went back to his kingdom.

After a month had passed the princess's betrothal ceremony took place at which she outshone the prince with her devastating beauty. After six months both were married in the presence of nobles of both the kingdoms and the prince escorted the princess to his kingdom. On their first night the prince behaved very harshly with the princess. The princess not expecting this was reduced to tears. At night she secretly left the Palace and walked until she spotted a village.

The village headman saw her and asked her to stay in his house. He looked after her very well and enquired about her. She confessed everything she had gone through to him to which he asked her to exercise patience and take the prince into confidence. While she was at the village headman's house all the people of the village became familiar with her and treated her with love. She realised her mistakes and worked with them in the fields. Also she did not ask anything in return. The prince was secretly watching her moves. One fine day he came to her house and thanked the village headman for taking care of his wife and took the princess to his palace.

From then on, great change came over the princess, she was polite to the maids and helped her in-laws and husband with daily chores and served her subjects well. This made the prince very happy and they lived happily ever after.
