Doctor Anuvishnu, a neurologist and professor in National Institute of Mental Health Neuro-Science (NIMHANS), Bangalore iis researching about Anterograde Amnesia, with the help of a patient named, Abinesh

At the same time, one of Anuvishnu's students named, Anjali(from Brahmin background) too, is keen to make on a project about human brain system.

At that time, she sees Anuvishnu studying the reports of Abinesh.

"Sir. Who is he?" asked Anjali.

"He is Major Abinesh, Anjali. An officer from Indian Army" said Anuvishnu.

"Why are you studying about him, sir?" asked Anjali.

"He had been admitted here, ma. This person is suffering from anterograde amnesia. The cause is due to the brutal hit, that he suffered in his head" said Anuvishnu.

"Sir. What is anterograde amnesia? Why it happens to a patient?" asked Anjali.

"It is a loss of the ability to create new memories after the event that caused amnesia, leading to a partial or complete inability to recall the recent past, while long-term memories from before the event remain intact. This is in contrast to retrograde amnesia, where memories created prior to the event are lost while new memories can still be created. Both can occur together in the same patient. To a large degree, anterograde amnesia remains a mysterious ailment because the precise mechanism of storing memories is not yet well understood, although it is known that the regions involved are certain sites in the temporal cortex, especially in the hippocampus and nearby subcortical regions" said Anuvishnu.

"Sir. Is there any symptoms of this particular disease?" asked Anjali.

Anuvishnu replies her saying, "People with anterograde amnesic syndromes may present with widely varying degrees of forgetfulness. Some with severe cases have a combined form of anterograde and retrograde amnesia, sometimes called global amnesia.

In the case of drug-induced amnesia, it may be short-lived and patients can recover from it. In the other case, which has been studied extensively since the early 1970s, patients often have permanent damage, although some recovery is possible, depending on the nature of the pathophysiology. Usually, some capacity for learning remains, although it may be very elementary. In cases of pure anterograde amnesia, patients have recollections of events prior to the injury, but cannot recall day-to-day information or new facts presented to them after the injury occurred.

In most cases of anterograde amnesia, patients lose declarative memory, or the recollection of facts, but they retain nondeclarative memory, often called procedural memory. For instance, they are able to remember and in some cases learn how to do things such as talking on the phone or riding a bicycle, but they may not remember what they had eaten earlier that day for lunch. One extensively studied anterograde amnesiac patient, codenamed H.M., demonstrated that despite his amnesia preventing him from learning new declarative information, procedural memory consolidation was still possible, albeit severely reduced in power. He, along with other patients with anterograde amnesia, were given the same maze to complete day after day. Despite having no memory of having completed the maze the day before, unconscious practice of completing the same maze over and over reduced the amount of time needed to complete it in subsequent trials. From these results, Corkin et al. concluded despite having no declarative memory (i.e. no conscious memory of completing the maze exists), the patients still had a working procedural memory (learning done unconsciously through practice). This supports the notion that declarative and procedural memory are consolidated in different areas of the brain. In addition, patients have a diminished ability to remember the temporal context in which objects were presented. Certain authors claim the deficit in temporal context memory is more significant than the deficit in semantic learning ability (described below)."

"Sir. Is there a possibility for a person to revive back his memories using treatment techniques?" asked Anjali.

Anuvishnu tells her, "Amnesia is caused by brain damage. There's currently no treatments that can essentially cure amnesia, but instead treatments concentrate on condition management. Treatment focuses on therapies and techniques that help improve quality of life. Options include:

vitamin B1 supplements, in case of a deficiency

occupational therapy

memory training

technology assistance, such as reminder apps. There are currently no FDA-approved medications to treat amnesia" said Anuvishnu. Anjali blinks at him.

He further said her, "One strange thing is that, the person remembers his old memories after every 15 to 20 minutes."

Impressed, Anjali wishes to investigate the backdrop and curious case, lying behind Abinesh. Hence, she asks him to give his records, to which Anuvishnu refuses and obliges. Since, his records are currently under criminal investigation.

Now, Abinesh is introduced. He brutally murders a doctor. He takes an instant picture of the man, and writes on it "done." Since, he has anterograde amnesia and loses his memories every 15 minutes he uses a system of photographs, notes and words through his computers after each cycle.

Abinesh is ultimately out to avenge the death of his family and that, he is systematically killing the family, responsible. His main target is Doctor Varadarajan and a notable medical mafia leader, Ashok Chakravarthy in Bangalore.

Meanwhile, Saukhat Ali, the ACP of Bangalore, on the case of serial murders tracks Abinesh down to his house. But, he have already left from the place. However, the fact is that, he have forgotten to lock his house and have left as such.

Taking the absence of Abinesh as an advantage, Saukhat decides to search all around his house. There, he notices two diaries where he have chronicled two events of 2018 and 2019. ACP Saukhat starts to read the diary of 2018.

Abinesh was born in a rich family, full of Brahmins. His ancestors(from great grandfather to his father) were successful advocates, working in Supreme and High courts. Their family is settled in Chikmagaluru of Bangalore. However, Abinesh was not interested to take Lawyer as his profession and instead opted to join Indian Army. Because, it was his dream.

After getting trained and selected in Indian Army, he served for two years in Kashmir Borders. Later, he came back to Chikmagaluru for a brief period of leave to spend a time with his family.

They all enjoys a trip going for Jog Falls, Krishnarajasagar dam and Coorg district as a five long day trip. In the end of diary, Abinesh mentioned about his father's birthday being celebrated in their house(after coming back from the trip).

When Saukhat was about to read the diary of 2019, Abinesh comes back to his house(Remembering that, he have not locked his house). Seeing Saukhat, Abinesh beats him up severely to unconscious. Later, he ties him up to a chair. He tracks down Ashok-Doctor Varadarajan in a school function where Ashok is the guest of honour. Abinesh took pictures of Ashok-Varadarajan and decides to kill both of them.

The same evening, Abinesh mistakenly attacks and kills one of Ashok's henchman. Threatened from the attack and the failure to recall about the incident makes Ashok to make himself safer with armed henchman, all around his house.

He asks his henchman to track down the enemy, who tried to kill him. Furthermore, he asks to keep an eye on his rivalries. However, he is frustrated to learn that, so many of his business rivalries are not behind the attacks.

In the meantime, Anjali visits Abinesh's house and finds Saukhat Ali, being beaten and bound. After finding two diaries, she frees the ACP. She also finds that Ashok and Varadarajan are Abinesh's main targets. Saukhat tells that Abinesh is a known serial murderer.

Abinesh arrives suddenly. He remembers neither of them and chases them out. The ACP accidentally strikes into a tree and becomes fainted, while Anjali barely escapes, going into a secluded underground camp.

Believing that Ashok is in danger, she warns him about it. He arrives at Abi's house to kill him. His henchman opens Abinesh's computer, where he have researched about medical crimes and terrorism in India. Besides these, they notices a few photograph and words. They deletes it. Satisfied that he have neutralised Abinesh by wiping out any trace that connects back to him, Ashok leaves

Meanwhile, Abinesh discovers that Anjali have warned Ashok and goes to her dormitory to kill her, but Anjali calls the police and Abinesh is arrested.

Back in the dormitory, Anjali reads the diaries. The 2019 diary reveals about the happier journey of Abinesh, with his family for one months, in his leave. For eg from from diary: Helping his mother in cooking food, telling slogans, doing Surya namaskar(common in brahmin house), reading Garuda Literature, doing social service with his father and proving support to the children in orphanage trusts.

In addition, he further mentions about the immense love and affection, that he had for his younger sister, Triyambha and brother Tejas. With the happier moments of family, it ended abruptly.

Anjali decides to investigate the cade in further and meets Inspector Naresh, whose name was too unveiled in some pages of 2019 diaries by Abinesh.

There, Naresh requests Anjali not to unveil this to anyone. She opens the further events that had occurred in Abinesh's life. Abinesh, Tejas(for a music show) and his father have visited a most popular orphanage home in Bangalore(to whom they have been providing reliefs for several years).

After enjoying in the trust, they came back towards home. But, while they are on the way, Abinesh sees a few young children, being taken to a hospital(Varadarajan's) by few henchman and rescues them.

One of the children tells him that, "They have been kidnapped to get their organs, sold for profit." He further, unveils the name of Varadarajan and Ashok, being responsible to these kinds of illegal business.

Angered, Abinesh's father and he himself decides to study about the medical system of India.

Upon reading, Abinesh and his father analyzes that, "In India, most of the medical practitioners are found involved in activities like issuance of a false medical certificate, unnecessary billing, selling sample drugs to patients, etc. These activities are some of the petty crimes, but few of the well-practiced doctors with a mindset of doing a crime tactically would help them to escape from punishments, voluntarily involves in the purpose of money-making to perform some activities like practicing medicine without any qualification and by using a fake certificate of completing the respective course (these people are termed as quackery), abortion as a common term but female foeticide as a medical term when especially done for the girl child, organ trade combined with murder will fall under serious crimes."

Abinesh's father files a case in Bangalore High court, about the medical crimes in India. Especially against Doctor Varadarajan and Ashok Chakravarthy. They starts to collect evidence against them.

Besides these, Abinesh saves a few evidence about the crimes committed by Doctor Varadarajan and Ashok in a computer(which was destroyed by Ashok).

However, feeling threatened about the case, Ashok insists Varadarajan to kill Abinesh's entire family. So that, they may continue their business, without any threats.

While Abinesh have gone outside, Varadarajan and his henchman comes and stabs Abinesh's parents to death. When they were about to kill Tejas and Triyambha, Abinesh comes inside the house.

Warned about his arrival, Ashok asks a doctor(who have come with them and the one, who got killed by Abinesh in the beginning) to hide and hit him. As Abinesh entered inside the house, he was hit in his leg by the doctor. After this, Ashok hits him over the head with an iron rod that disorients him and is struck again in the head again enough to bring him to the floor.

A badly injured Abinesh's last vision was to witness Ashok brutally murder his brother and sister with the Iron rod much to his grief as he moans helplessly. Besides that, Ashok brutally hits his face with the same weapon again, before losing consciousness.

At that time, Naresh arrived to meet Abinesh's family. But, he hides after seeing Ashok. Later on, he rescues Abinesh's family. But, except Abinesh, everyone died due to the brutal attack.

Anjali, now aware of the truth, finds Abinesh(who gets released due to his profession as an army man) in a hospital and tells him the truth. He flies into a rage and he tells her to lead him to Ashok. Meanwhile, Saukhat regains his consciousness in the hospital and comes back to his duty.

He orders his subordinates to search for Abinesh and further, gives them his photo. On one side, he is chased by the police. On the other side, he is chased by Ashok's henchman.

Realizing this, Anjali informs Abinesh about this and both decides to go for hide, a few days. Anjali henceforth, takes Abinesh to her hometown Mandya to safeguard him, with her family's help.

Abinesh sees the hospitality of her family and gets touched with their immense affection. In addition, he starts to remember his old memories of golden times, that he had spent with his family.

During these period of times, Abinesh and Anjali falls in love with each other and gets attached emotionally. They further, grew intimate.

Meanwhile, Ashok tries to meet Anjali inorder to know the whereabouts of Abinesh in her college. Learning that, she have gone to her hometown Mandya, he goes his bunch of henchman to that place.

He forces her to tell Abinesh's location. She denies to acknowledge about his location, by telling a lie. But, he tells her that, he knew that, she had met him in a hospital.

He kidnaps her hoping that, Abinesh would come to rescue her. However, as they are about to move, Abinesh arrives at a nick of time.

When he sees Ashok touching the hair of Anjali with a grip, he remembers how he hold his brother and sister too, in the same condition.

Fueled with anger, he bashes up his goons and kidnaps Ashok and takes him to an underground camp. Through his phone, he contacts Varadarajan and asks him to come to their place.

There, Abinesh and Anjali hides. After Varadarajan comes, Abinesh hits him and ties him up. However, he tells Abinesh that, "He isn't s fool to believe the message. Hence, he brought Saukhat too with him."

Hearing this, Abinesh threatens Varadarajan with a gun and Saukhat Ali enters into the place.

There, Varadarajan and Ashok asks Saukhat to shoot Abinesh dead, to which both of them laughs.

Saukhat arrests Varadarajan and Ashok instead. They are produced in the court. There, Varadan's lawyer argues that, "They have been arrested unnecessarily for no reasons."

However, Public Prosecutor objects and tells that, "These two criminals have been arrested on the grounds of committing medical crimes, illegal medical practices and forging medical certificates."

When Varadarajan and Ashok asked for the evidences and confidently told that, "There's no evidence", Abinesh hands over a pendrive to the Judge.

Abinesh and Anjali looks at Varadan, with an immense laughter while, Saukhat Ali recalls the events in his hospitals.

Learning that, Saukhat have got cured, Abinesh went to meet him and told why he is doing the murders. He further tells to Saukhat that, "He is planning to kidnap Varadan and Ashok to make themselves confess about their crimes. Since, he have burned the evidences and photographs, collected by him and kept in the computer."

However, to his surprise, Saukhat gave him the pendrive telling that, "He just uploaded the document and didn't even see the history of evidence."

Abinesh explained to Saukhat about the case history of Medical crimes and the links between it, Varadan and Ashok. Since, some of Saukhat's subordinates are under the payroll of Varadan, he diverts them to catch Abinesh and arrested the duo.

Now, evidences are against Vardarajan and Ashok. They are sentenced to life long imprisonment for indulging in several illegal activities like Organ Trafficking, preparaing fake Medical certificates, Drugs trafficking and Foetus trades.

Since, evidence proved favorable for Abinesh(when argued about series of his murders) he is not charged. Since, he is a patient suffering from Anterograde Amnesia.

When the media asked Abinesh about the reason for this case's victory he tells that, "His father was the solo reason and he fulfilled his wish. In further, he credits Saukhat for helping him in the case."

Further, when they asked about medical crimes he tells them, "People should realize, what's good and what's bad. They should further, be aware about the selfish world. Money is dominating in every sectors(from primary to the service sector). Until, we are aware of these issues, people like Vardarajan and Ashok would make profits through illegal activities. It's not only in India. But it's common to the entire world. Let's be cautious and vigilante from now onwards."

He takes an exit from the court with Anjali. Before that, Abinesh asks Saukhat to kill Varadan and Ashok, as they aren't deserved to live. As told, he encounters them, while taking to the prison.

Finally, Abinesh gets treated for his amnesia and with the blessings from Anjali's family, they both get married and goes to the orphanage trust(to which he he gone with his father and brother). There he sees a child smiling at him. He reacts by smiling at her.

Later, he notices a reflection of his mother-father blessing him....while Tejas and Triyambha smiles at him...he proceeds with Anjali after they disappeared...

ALTERNATIVE FINISHING:

After a few days, Abinesh and Anjali get married and he rejoins in Indian Army(as he was rejected and sent out initially for amnesia). He proceeds to meet his senior officer to continue his duty again in the office.
