Maa Sita
Maa Sita
Maa Sita. A young royal princess who accompanied her husband on a tough exile, being taken by the demon king Ravana, spent time waiting for her Rama. She didn’t even think of going back her Rama with Hanuman when he asked her. She knew her Rama would come and he did.
Sita – The symbol chastity. The one whom even the fire couldn’t touch. When let alone by Lakshmana in the thick forest being fully pregnant, she was looked after by the forest itself. She endured everything. Everything till she no longer wished to prove herself again. She loved her Rama dearly but love wasn’t enough.
A girl in her childhood needs her father, growing up she’ll need her brother, later its her husband to look after her and finally its her son. This my father used to say completes a woman’s life.
Rama – Maryada Purusha. He sure had his duties towards his kingdom as the king. But for the woman who loved him, who went through every hardship of him, who still loved and respected him after all of the mistreatments, he was helpless so she left one day. She called her mother, the Earth and went back into the womb.
Love was there, still evident but love isn’t enough. Respect and responsibility plays an important role in the relationship. Do you not know the woman who was by your side all the time? Through thick and thin? What are you if you can’t seem to protect her and her feelings?
No, Love isn’t enough. Respect. A woman can lower her pride, her dignity, but never for too long. Not for love too. Not all of us are as brave as Maa Sita. But we can still be dignified, to leave when there’s no longer any respect.
