11th April 2020

Day 18 of lockdown

Dear diary

The big news is that today the lockdown got extended for another two weeks till the 30th of April.

And schools will not reopen before June.

This means children will be at home for another two months.

With nothing much to do....they are the ones who are facing boredom the most.

And to combat that, they are seeking attention all the time.

But thanks to the online classes that have started to catch up with the studies to bridge the gap created due to the undesirable lockdown.

Children are more happy and relaxed at home with their daily online interaction with their teachers and friends.

They are getting their homework assessments online. Students are getting the privilege to continue their studies from the comfort of home.

They can even chat with friends with the help of different online apps.

If this lockdown would have happened a few years back when computers were not an indissoluble part of our lives! The time when we were children!

With no option to go to school, no going out to play, no meeting friends, no online connectivity, no YouTube and no online studies?

It would only be storybooks ( that too restricted to individual collection ) and television...

But the major time would have been spending chewing parents' heads!

But time has changed.

Now we don't need everything in person.

This is a time for online services.

Online shopping, online booking, online selection of partners, online maintaining relationships and to the extent of getting married online.

We pray online.

The lockdown did not stop the Bishop from conducting prayer sessions online on the day of Good Friday.

On the Bengali New Year day which is next week on the 14th , we will greet each other online and post pictures of celebration at home.

We no more visit each other's house nowadays... we keep in touch online.

One way when we are too dependent on the social networks to get connected to each other and losing the personal touch, in other way social media also brings us close to each other via video calls when we are miles away from our loved ones.

Where we cannot reach, the social network reaches us.

It gives us the platform to reach to thousands at one go.

After all, this age of the computer has its pros and cons.

Whatever may be the hurdle, life goes on.

The COVID _19 has restricted our daily life but has not been able to stop us.

We work online, study online, pray online.

The virus has not able to stop our prayers, and with the power of it, we will emerge victorious against it one day....and very soon.
