Dear diary

09th April

 Day 16 of lockdown

Last night there was an untimely light shower. The morning was as usual, no hurry no business, no race against time.

A cup of black tea and E-newspaper has been part of my daily morning ritual for the last 16 days.

Reading newspaper is a habit I developed since I was in school. But reading a newspaper has never been so scary before.

The count on the number of Covid affected all over the world is increasing at an alarming rate. The rate of mortality in USA, Spain and Italy is dreadful.

Though we are still in a controllable condition with maintaining social distancing and staying at home due to the ontime lockdown decision by our government , the situation in some countries have gone out of hand.

All over the world, hospitals are under tremendous pressure. There are not enough ICU beds and ventilators to treat all infected.

In such a bleak scenario that many parts of the world is facing, will such a harsh situation arise when one has to decide who lives and who dies ?

The doctors will have to face the grim decision of whom to save and whom to let go !

How tough a decision will it be for a doctor who dedicates his whole life saving the ailing, relinquish from his Hippocratic oath and let go of the one who considers him to be the hero who will never let him die !

What an irony it will be. . . .

I hope this situation never arise when someone will have to take such an agonizing decision.

And this world exists, we exist because there is a ray of hope amidst all the pain.

There are hundreds of patients who are emerging victorious against the deadly virus.

And it's not only the young who have succeeded in conquering the unknown enemy, the children and senior citizens also add to the victory list.

Though the sky is cloudy today, the fact that we all stand united to wipe off even the last trace of corona virus will be the silver lining in the cloud.

Though the nights are dark, the sun will rise more bright and radiant.
