Just A Little Chat
Just A Little Chat
One day, the spices were talking amongst themselves in the kitchen.
"Hey guys, don't you think our mistress is using us too much these days? I rarely hear the bell ring nowadays.", Turmeric said to the others.
"Haven't you heard the TV, Rick? People don't go out much these days, something of disease is spreading. And Granny has forbidden mistress to order food outside." Peppy chirped in.
(For the knowledge of the readers, the spices preferred to be called by their nicknames: Turmeric was called Rick, Pepper was called Peppy, Cinnamon was Cindy, Chilli was Chilz, Salt was Sally, and Saffron was Kesari. There were many more spices in the little kitchen, but these were the ones who initiated and continued a conversation. These days, they seldom got time to chat though.)
So... to continue with their conversation....
"Madam barely uses me nowadays. (*sob, sniff)" Kesari cried.
"Not me though! I'm always there to spice up her dishes!" Chilz said with a lofty air.
"Oh shut up Chilz! We are all spices. Anyways, where would you be without me? I'm a part and parcel of the house." Sally was a humble spice, and never added any arrogance in her voice.
"I guess mistress is entering. Back we get to work!" Cindy moaned.
Meanwhile, a lady entered the kitchen, filling a pan with water.
