A Turn In Life

A fifteen year old boy was going on a deserted road, feeling a little scared and uneasy. Hesitatingly, he stepped ahead. Suddenly, the sounds of an approaching car startled him. He quickly hid behind a tree, waiting with bated breath. It was a new moon night. But even through the pitch-black darkness, he could recognise the car. His blood froze as he heard the angry voice of those familiar... very familiar people...He heaved a sigh of relief as the car sped away. He waited for sometime and then ran as fast as he could.

Mr. Roy was but surprised to see a young boy sleeping in front of the police station, in the wee hours of that winter morning. The boy had a burning fever, and Mr. Roy became worried. He took him inside and tried to wake him up... Slowly, the story unfolded...

That evening, the child traffickers were shocked beyond imagination, to find the police. The 32 children and adolescents reunited with their families, and the goons faced life imprisonment. Manav had changed forever those 33 lives, including his own. He had got back his freedom from those villains, but not the life of his parents...

It has been eleven years since, and Mr. Roy felt proud of both his sons. His own son was now a successful scientist. And Manav had come home today, wearing the shining badge on his police uniform...

It was a happy embrace...
