I can still smell it

“It still stinks! I can still smell it!”

“Ohh! I am tired.” Amma replied.

“I can’t smell it!” I replied.

“Even I can’t!” Amma supported.

“I swear it stinks!”

“You do one thing, You scent your nose!” I suggested.

“Very funny! I will laugh tomorrow, remind me!” He was a bit rude.

“Ok then, let’s do one thing, we will lift that sack and place it out. And then check if it stinks or not. If it doesn’t, then the problem would be inside that sack. What do you both say?”

We agreed.

“But what if it still stinks,” I asked.

But I think that was not required. Amma stared at me in anger.

“Come on, let’s not waste a single second I have to even study!” I hurried.

We took the big sack together, god knows what was inside it that made it so heavy.

I stood staring at the sack, beside me was my brother.

“Ahh! I can smell it, it stinks! Amma there would be something in this sack!”

He went inside telling Amma that my nose works.

Inside Amma had a different opinion, “No! I can smell it. It must be something below the Fridge!.”

Sidhu was just beside her and supported her.

“But I could smell it inside the sack.” I stood near the front door and passed my comment.

“No dear, we both can still smell it. Let’s move the refrigerator then.”

“Ok then, I won’t support you but!” I assured.

We three moved the refrigerator. But below it was as clean as utensils of our house. But that would be a lie. We found everything there expect for something that stinks.

By this time it was afternoon. We all three got tired and decided to postpone our investigation to evening.

It did take much long for the clock to tick to 4. We decided to start our cleaning back again.

“Amma, I can’t smell it much now,” Sidhu added.

“Is it so? So the problem would be in the sack itself.”

“I told you before.” That was the great me.

Soon Appa entered the scene.

“Ahha! Who is this!”

“Who Appa?” I asked.

“This boy! Did he take a bath today? Or you just dipped your head in the water?

“No, I took a bath, I didn’t want to but if I didn’t then Amma would punch me out! So just a few minutes ago.”

“Good, at least now.” Appa went into the bedroom.

We decided to scatter all the things inside the sack and check. We began when Appa called us.

“What?” Amma shouted from outside.

“Could you three come here?”

We three went in one after the other.

“What?” Amma asked

“Can you smell anything?”

Amma’s face went down.

“Now what can you both smell?” She asked us or i should say she scolded us.

I felt bad for her.

“Wait, I will check this time,” I said.

I went all around the small room from corner to corner like a dog sniffing everything.

“Yuck!!!!!” I screamed.

“What happened?” Amma a bit frightened, “Did you spot anything?”

“I will vomit now!”

“What is there?” Amma came near me. “Yuck!!!”

The problem was neither in the sack nor below the Fridge. It was the clothes of a boy who hadn’t taken a bath for the past 1 week.
