Hero Pen
Hero Pen
I quickly finished my breakfast and took my parent's blessings as today was the d-day of SSLC results. My mother told me to get a box of sweets while coming back and my father, whom I lovingly called "Appaji", patted my back and said, "you will do it, take my words ". We left on his scooter. All the way, my Appaji's reassurance made me keep my calm. My Appaji stopped at school.
I entered our school building. I was holding my breath and trying to find my name in the results list. For just one day, I wanted to become as tall as a giraffe so that I could get to see the results easily. A few of my friends had already seen the results and were happy about it. I too wanted to be a part of the celebration. I wantingly pushed the girl in front of me, thank God, she did not realize. There I stood in front of the notice board, where our SSLC result list was put up. I closed my eyes to pray to my idol and was pushed towards the board by another girl. I understood the urgency. I slowly opened my eyes and quickly checked for my number, Hurray! I had passed the exams in the First class.
I was so happy that I didn't even realize how I came out of the rush. I ran to my Appaji. I just hugged him tightly and pinched his chubby cheeks. He's the one who always believed in me. On the way back home, we bought sweets and my Appaji gave me a surprise, it was a "Hero" pen. My dream pen in jet black color. I couldn't thank him enough for the wonderful surprise.
At home, I shared the sweets with everyone and showed the pen to my mom. She instructed me to be careful with that. Every day I used to have a look at it and was waiting to use it on the first reopening day of my college. That day too came so fast. I boarded the bus along with my friends and I was exhibiting it in front of all my friends, who were happy about it too. We were so busy talking that the conductor had to literally scream at us for tickets. As soon as our stop came, we got down and entered our college.
The lecturer came in and started his class. I slowly took out my dream pen, "Hero" pen and started writing with a gleam in my eyes. One of the girls who was sitting next to me wanted to write with it too, I was hesitant to give, but after a lot of instructions on how to use the pen, I gave it to her. I took it back immediately.
It was time to go home and we boarded the bus home. I was so hungry that I couldn't even hear what the conductor had to tell me before getting down. I rushed home. After munching on the snacks given by my mom, I was excited to do the first day's homework. I opened my bag and kept the books out. I took out my pouch and took out my Hero pen, wait! it was not a Hero pen. I searched for it, I emptied the contents of my pouch, nowhere Hero pen was found. I was crying so loudly that my mom came and got to know that my Hero pen was missing. She helped me to check in the bag too, it was not to be found there too. I got so upset in spite of my mom's reassurance that maybe I had left it in college. I couldn't face my Appaji, I felt bad about it. I was thinking as to who could steal the Hero pen from my pouch, I started doubting the girl who was sitting next to me who had borrowed the pen for a while. As soon as my Appaji came from the office, I ran to him and told him everything. He just told me, Leave it, I'll buy you another one." He pacified me somehow and put me to sleep.
The next day, at the bus stop, I had made up my mind to complain to the class teacher as to how that girl could have stolen the "Hero' pen from me. I just hated that girl. As soon as the bus came, though there was a lot of rush, I managed to get inside. As mine was last stop, I managed to get a seat after some time. I was waiting for my other friends to join me because I had to tell them to be careful from that girl. The conductor came and asked for the ticket. Without lifting my head, I gave him the money for the ticket, he gave the ticket and went ahead of me. I could sense something in the hand, I couldn't believe it, it was my dream pen, Hero" pen. I got up from the seat and thanked the conductor, who told me that it had fallen on the bus yesterday and that despite his calling I had got down from the bus.
My friends got in and I kept the Hero pen carefully inside the pouch because I had missed out keeping it in my pouch and as a result, it had slipped out of my bag.
We were on time for the first class. I sat next to the girl whom I had suspected of stealing my pen. Without even asking for my Hero pen, I offered it to her, which she had refused first. But after my persistence, she used it. I was happy more than she was, thanks to my Hero pen!!
