Day 7: A rather mundane passed by today as I invested most of my time in doing the household chores, surfing the internet and reading of course. However, certain disturbing visuals emerging in social media about migrant workers being sanitized with disinfectants while sitting in a squat position on roads in Uttar Pradesh have left me feeling disgusted and infuriated. I am at a loss of words to condemn this barbaric act by persons in authority. If not to the pandemic, but we are surely losing to our basic human values.

Despite all these grim happenings around, the only ray of hope that I came across today was after checking the Air Quality Index (AQI) in my neighborhood as indicated by PM 2.5 levels. Clockwise from the right as depicted in the picture, data clearly shows that nature is undergoing a reboot where PM 2.5 drastically reduced from 55, 11 to 8 on 22nd March, 25th March, and 30th March. I hope this trend continues and the air remains less polluted in the coming days, long after the lockdown is withdrawn. It's high time we take our environment seriously and act accordingly so as not to mess with it. A little bit of responsibility on our part as citizens can go a long way in protecting the environment. Until then, Mother Nature will heal itself.
