Note: I took more than six months to prepare this story. This story is a science-fiction spy thriller loosely inspired from Christopher Nolan sir’s science-fiction spy thriller film Tenet. It’s a continuation of my previous story Chaitanya: Chapter 1 in "Adhi Story Universe."

ANGAMALY, KERALA:

MARCH 18 2021:

The NIA investigation into the seizure of five AK-47 rifles and 300 kg of heroin from a Sri Lankan boat off the Kerala coast has revealed that agents from the island nation are operating on Indian soil facilitating drugs and arms trade. The revelation comes at a time when the Kochi coastline is under surveillance over the possibility of infiltration by Sri Lankan nationals en route to Pakistan.

The NIA Agent, Siddha Shashank Swaroop in a secret undercover mission to Angamaly found that a Sri Lankan national named Suresh Raj has been staying in India illegally for the past several years. He was the main agent who coordinated drug and weapons trafficking from Pakistan and Iran to Sri Lanka. As per the information from Siddha to his senior NIA Agent Kiran, the Tamil Nadu Q branch from Angamaly arrested Suresh Raj.

The Tamil Nadu Q branch and the Kerala Special Operation Group arrested three persons including Suresh in a joint move. Later, the NIA uncovered the involvement of Suresh in the case relating to the seizure of AK-47 rifles and drugs from a Sri Lankan boat in March. However, right after his arrest, some men, appearing to be the LTTE members spot Siddha and chase him. When running, Siddha realizes that the bullets, shot by them are inverted. Subsequently, they captured him, and henceforth, he consumes a suicide pill.

A FEW HOURS LATER:

COIMBATORE:

A few hours later, Siddha wakes up in a hospital in the Coimbatore district, where his boss Kiran had been sitting beside him. Looking at Siddha, Kiran said: “Siddha. The pill was a fake, designed as a test, of whether you are stronger and leaner to join our Gravity group. My boys. Come here!”

The guys, who tortured Siddha comes there and Kiran said: “They are too an undercover NIA Agents, Siddha. Except the last one, everything that you saw was real only.” He looks at them and a while later, Siddha asked: “Sir. What’s next?”

Sai Adhithya smiled and said: “An organization called Gravity has collaborated with us to work for the secret mission, that we are doing currently, Siddha. Coincidentally, we have named this Operation Gravity.”

Siddha glared at him. While Kiran continued to tell him: “Our IB officers and my team had investigated those three.”

“What they said, sir?”

“Suresh and the three have been staying in India illegally with his relatives for over a decade. The NIA probe into the seizure of weapons and drugs. Suresh was one of the main agents coordinating drug and weapons trafficking from Pakistan and Iran to Sri Lanka. The details collected from his mobile phones and social media accounts revealed that he maintained contacts with an Afghanistan gang acting as an agent in the illegal drugs and weapons trade. He is currently residing in Kanniyakumari district as per the reports of IB.” Siddha gets up from the bed and meets the head of Gravity, Iqbal Ahmed. Iqbal Ahmed said: “The accused was using several foreign SIM Cards for illegal activities even while staying in Angamaly.”

When speaking, ASP Chaitanya IPS and ASP Sai Adhithya IPS comes inside the room, where Siddha and Kiran had been investigating the case. There, the guy salutes him and said: “Sir.” The guy salutes him and Siddha asked them: “Who are you?”

“Siddha. They are sent undercover along with us to investigate this case.” Now, Sai Adhithya said: “Sir. As per our recent reports, The illegal earnings of Suresh have been transported to India by way of gold and other means.” Upon hearing this, another NIA officer said: “Yes sir. Suresh earned wealth worth crores of rupees from illegal activities. Documents recovered from the accused contain details of illegal earnings which come to several crores of rupees. The probe into the end-use of such huge funds raised by the accused through smuggling of arms and other contraband is under process.” Hearing this, Kiran stared at him and asked, “All this, will you tell only when another officer tells something related to this? Careless idiots. How could we capture the other people now?”

Kiran thinks for a while. As he doesn’t get any ideas, Iqbal Ahmed said: “Sir. I have an idea.”

As he said, Kiran asked him: “Yes. Tell me your idea, sir.”

“We can send some of your teammates backward through time sir.” Kiran is confused. However, Ahmed clarified his doubts by telling that, he is telling about the time loop, said to Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity. Siddha, Sai Adhithya, and Chaitanya are eager to hear about his concept for this mission.

“Sir. During this mission, the bullets will be inverted as per the concept of entropy. Since we move backward through time for this mission.” As he said this, Sai Adhithya is confused and asked him: “How it’s possible sir?”

“We have different time sets- past, present, and future. All instants that happened are the past instants. They form the temporally ordered set of the past instants, which is the past and which does not have the first moment denoted. A moment that is happening in the present moment. It forms the singleton of the present moment, which is the present. The present moment occurs after all past moments and we assign to it a real number bigger than the real numbers assigned to all past moments. All instants that have not yet happened are the future instants. Time is an illusion that moves relative to an observer.” Now, the guys understand that due to their movement backward through time, the bullets will be inverted.

Sai Adhithya informed his wife Neha, “He is going for an important work for one month” and further asked her to be careful to which she agrees. While, Chaitanya too contacted his wife Kaviya and lied to her, “He is going for an important investigation about drug peddlers in Kanniyakumari” and requested her to be safer with her family. She agrees to this.

MUMBAI:

After meeting Kiran, Adhithya, Siddha Shasank Swaroop and Chaitanya trace the inverted bullets to arms dealer Anushya Naidu in Mumbai. The trio discovered that Anushya is a member of Gravity and that her weapons were purchased and inverted by Sri Lankan Oligarch Loku Yaddehige Nishantha. She tells him: “Some important weapons like AK-47 were dealt by a man called, Askar from Afghanistan. He has connections with future people.”

Siddha assigns Chaitanya and Sai Adhithya to meet Askar, to which they agreed and leaves for Afghanistan. There, they meet Askar after getting permission from his henchman. Askar initially refuses to tell about Loku and his henchman tries to get rid of the duo. However, Chaitanya and Adhithya knock them out using their martial arts skills. Helpless and fearing for his life, Afsar said: “There’s only one way to meet Loku. That’s through his estranged wife Catherine. She is currently residing in Colombo of Sri Lanka.”

COLOMBO, SRILANKA:

Sai Adhithya and Chaitanya meet Siddha and informed him about Catherine. Now, the trio approaches Loku’s estranged wife Catherine, who is a local drug smuggler in that country.

He meets her in a hotel along with Adhithya and Chaitanya near Colombo. There, he said: “Madam. I am a local drug dealer from Mumbai. I need to meet your estranged husband Loku Yaddehige Nishantha for an important contract.” Catherine looks angry at him. However, Siddha consoled her smartly and asked her: “Why mam? Why look at me like this?”

Staring at him, she said: “Six of our men were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on March 25 after our boat “Ravihansi” was intercepted by the coast guard off Kerala coast. NCB seized 300 kg of heroin, five AK47 rifles, and 1,000 nine mm bullets from the boat. I fought with him and decided to get separated from him for forming my own crime syndicate network. But, he threatened me to stay with him or else to expose my illegal activities to the Sri Lankan police.” Knowing this, Siddha decides to take her problem as an advantage for his mission. He promises to save her from Loku if she helps in meeting him.

“Okay. I will help you. The details about all my illegal activities with Loku are there in a godown at Loku’s base camp at St. Anthony’s Shrine. If you destroy that completely means, I will help you to meet him.”

ST. SEBASTIAN’S CHURCH, NEGOMBO:

Back from the hotel, Adhithya told Siddha: “Siddha sir. Recently, there had been widespread bomb blasts during the Easter festivals in Colombo, Negombo, and Batticaloa. I say it’s too risky a job.”

As Chaitanya didn’t speak anything, Adhithya looked at him and said: “Why are you silent da? Tell to him how much risk he’s going to take by going there. Since you have visited here during the 2019 Easter bombings for an undercover investigation right?”

As he said this, Siddha asked him about the same, to which Chaitanya said about the death of his girlfriend Amulya. He continued to say: “She was an NIA agent, undercover to investigate the recent trafficking activities of LTTE's.” Siddha consoled him and said, “See guys. There won’t be any risk in this mission. Come on. For gaining one thing, we have to lose another.” The guys reluctantly agreed to help him in the mission. Planning perfectly, Siddha destroys the base camp of Loku with the help of a plane and enters inside the camp, where he notices a machine.

Suddenly, men come out of that place. They attacked Siddha, Sai Adhithya, and Chaitanya. The guys noticed that these men are fighting backward and they escaped from that place. Siddha feels frustrated. Since, he is unable to take out Catherine’s file, which had been kept in this place. Again, Siddha meets Anushya after returning to Mumbai.

LEOPALD CAFÉ:

Meeting her at Léopold Café of Mumbai, Siddha asked her: “What about that Machine, which I had noticed in Loku’s basement camp?”

“That machine is a turnstile. It takes you back through time. The men coming through that machine are true, the same person.” With the help of Catherine, Sai Adhithya, Siddha and Chaitanya meet Loku Yaddehige Nishantha. However, he finds out that the trio is undercover agents who came here to capture him. Angered, he ordered his men to kill the trio.

At gunpoint, Adhithya panicked. While Chaitanya and Siddha remain calm and said to Loku: “I will help you in getting 1.6 tonnes of narcotics worth approximately Rs. 4900 crore and five weapons from your rival, who’s residing in the Kanniyakumari seaport. But, for that, you should let your wife go.” Loku agrees to this deal. Since those 1.6 tonnes of narcotics and that five weapons are important for him to give to the LTTE organization.

Siddha Shasank Swaroop, Adhithya, and Chaitanya's plans are perfect, and reached Kanniyakumari through a ship, evading the Naval forces of Sri Lanka and India. They meet the rival of Loku. After beating his men and killing him in a violent clash, Siddha managed to grab 1.6 tonnes of Narcotics and that five important weapons. While going towards the Sri Lankan port in the ship, another ship comes in reverse suddenly. Holding Catherine at gunpoint, Loku asks Siddha to return that 1.6 tonnes of Narcotics to him. At that point in time, another boat also comes in between and it fights with them. Left with no way to save Catherine from Loku’s clutches, Siddha reluctantly returns the narcotics to him. He saves Catherine. However, Loku’s men capture Chaitanya, Adhithya, and Siddha. They lock them up in a room.

Looking at the room, Adhithya said to Chaitanya: “Chaitu. This room looks similar to the base camp, that we saw at St. Sebastian’s Church right?”

Chaitanya and Siddha realize the same. At that time, Loku entered the room and said: “This box doesn’t even have that narcotics as well as that five important weaponry.” He subsequently shoots Catherine. All this happens in an inverted state. Henceforth, Siddha enters the machine and becomes inverted, thus the material can’t go to Loku forever and save Catherine.

The silver car indeed had the same Siddha and prevented Loku from getting that 1.6 tonnes of Narcotics. But, his plan doesn’t work out. Heartbroken and disgusted, Siddha decides to save the life of Catherine, at least. Now, he decides to return to normalcy from the inverted state, which they need that machine.

Hence, Siddha, Adhithya, and Chaitanya decide to use the machine that they saw in the Base camp of Loku, where they had hit the flight. They go to that time period with the help of that machine, where Siddha and his same look-alike fight each other(same in the case of Chaitanya and Adhithya). Now, he fights normally. While the past Siddha fights in reverse. Somehow, the trio becomes normal using that machine subsequently, saving Catherine.

After saving her Adhithya, Chaitanya and Siddha meet Anushya at her office in Mumbai, where she said: “Loku has planned big with the help of this 1.6 tonne of narcotics and that five weaponries. With the help of these, an algorithm comes with which, he can destruct the whole world and the people in future, uses Loku to do this mission.”

Catherine meets Siddha, Sai Adhithya, and Chaitanya. There she gives various incriminating documents including books relating to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, and seven digital devices including mobile phones, SIM Cards, and tablets. As Siddha switched on his recorder through his phone she said: “I am Loku’s wife Catherine. He does several illegal activities in Sri Lanka. The recent 2019 Easter bombings in Sri Lanka were carried out by Loku’s partner Askar from Afghanistan. They have several connections with influential ministers of China and other foreign nations, thus indulging in various smuggling activities. The now-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister too had been funded by LTTE and Loku for counter-terrorism activities in Tamil Nadu. He does this for his own gains to get votes from minority people. These people have plans to destroy the whole of India and other important countries.”

After the confessions, Catherine now gives shocking information to Siddha, “Loku has planned for a suicide bombing in Negombo, targeting several Christian churches and Sinhalese in the place. He himself is orchestrating the blast.”

NEGOMBO:

A while later, Catherine said: “I will go and kill Loku. You take care of those seized materials from him.” However, Siddha, Sai Adhithya, and Chaitanya refused. They travel back in time with Gravity troops. Catherine poses as her past self and tries to stop Loku from orchestrating bomb blasts in Negombo until the Gravity forces can recover the heavily-guarded algorithm in his basement camp in St.Sebastian’s church. They use a “temporal pincer movement”, with non-inverted and inverted troops making a simultaneous assault, but Siddha and Chaitanya are caught by Surendran, Loku’s bodyguard, who is about to bury the Algorithm. Loku calls and tells Siddha: “Dear Indian force. People are going to die in Negombo very soon through entropy, even after I die. Since I have such a powerful algorithm in my hand.” As he hangs up, an inverted soldier with a trinket sacrifices himself to save Siddha, Chaitanya, and Sai Adhithya and they secure the algorithm. Catherine captures Loku and beats him up to pulp in his own basement camp. However, Loku laughed and said: “Catherine. If you kill me, then this bomb would explode and kill the whole people of this city.” Angered, she hits him severely and knocks him unconscious.

She takes him to the mid-sea at the Bay of Bengal, where she takes a gun in her hand. Loku wakes up and finds water all around. Realizing that, Catherine has taken him to the mid-sea, he shouts in frustration. She shoots him as he looks at the sky, killing both of them. Since the bomb explodes. 

Having Kiran and some of the teams with him, Siddha, Adhithya, and Chaitanya meanwhile go to Colombo. Half of them go normal and half of the team goes inverted to prevent the meeting of Loku’s partners and a few LTTE terrorists. There too, a red-tagged person, who has saved these three As per the plans, they stop everything.

During this mission, Chaitanya takes out the algorithm, prepared by Loku by separating them piece by piece. It is at this point in time, that Sai Adhithya and Siddha notice something in Chaitanya’s pocket. The red tag is there in Kiran’s bag. Seeing his eyes, Siddha and Sai Adhithya asked him: “What’s that red-tag da?”

“Siddha. You were the one to select me for this future mission from that machine.” Hearing this, both Siddha and Sai Adhithya are shocked. After some thorough investigations with Kiran, Siddha realized that everything is true. Back in India, Sai Adhithya and Chaitanya submits a 900-page document about LTTE and Loku’s terrorism activities along with the video confession of Catherine to the NIA department.  

Sai Adhithya and Chaitanya are back with their family for some time again. They decide to remain as undercover police officers to safeguard the nation from future terrorism activities. During a meeting with Siddha, Chaitanya asked him: “Siddha. Is this true? NIA had seized a Lankan boat off Kanniyakumari, with 120 kg of Narcotics worth approximately Rs. 1,000 crore and five weapons.”

“Yes. Do you know one who that unnamed Afghan agent is?” asked Siddha, to which Sai Adhithya blinked. While Chaitanya smiled and asked: “Is that Askar?”

Siddha was surprised and asked him: “How correctly you said?”

“Since we both have worked along with you undercover. And I also know that there’s an Afghan agent working for Suresh. When meeting Askar, I confirmed that it was he indeed.”

Now, Sai Adhithya asked Siddha: “What happened to Anushya Naidu?”

Siddha laughed and revealed the aftermath of Mission Gravity. He went to meet her in the Mumbai laboratory, where she forbids him to enter the laboratory. She had completely forgotten the Sri Lankan mission as well as the identity of Siddha. When he said about the organization Gravity, she allowed him inside the lab. He killed her on the outskirts of Mumbai after revealing to her: “I am the mastermind behind this mission Anushya. I very well know that you are connected to Loky and Askar. Upon confronting Askar, he said you were the one to inform the identity of undercover officers. Go to the hell.” Siddha killed her by shooting her forehead. She dies.

Siddha’s ruthless way of killing Anushya really shocked Chaitanya and Sai Adhithya. However, they resort to peace considering his measures to safeguard the country from Anti-nationals. Now, Chaitanya asked: “What about our Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Askar?”

Siddha turned back to the hot sun and said: “Collateral damage Chaitanya. Both of them are now under arrest by our NIA.” Kiran calls the trio through conference calls and reports to them about Counter-terrorism activities in Tamil Nadu’s coastal region.

Looking at Adhithya and Chaitanya, Siddha said: “Guys. The laws in this city are clearly racist. All laws are racist. So, the law of gravity is also racist.” He laughed at them. Wearing the cooling glasses, he proceeds to go in a car, accompanied by Chaitanya and Sai Adhithya, who as usual lied to their wives(Kaviya and Neha) further requesting them to be safer in the house.
