Freedom

Freedom

Well. . . It's been 74 years and counting; you, me & our families have been enjoying the sweet & tasty fruits of freedom for free for four generations including our children.

But . . . but. . . . the freedom has NOT come for free. . It was the hardest & longest fought battle in the history of INDIA to be won at the cost of countless lives of patriots & freedom fighters.

And. . . that legacy continues. . .

The Love. . .

The Passion. . .

& The Obsession. . . .

of those patriotic Indians for MOTHER INDIA still runs into the blood of our Men in Uniform.

Earning freedom was one battle to be won once. But, protecting that freedom for 74 long years is another battle that our Men in uniform are fighting & winning daily without a relent.

Be it in scorching heat of Jaisalmer or in far below freezing cold of Siachen, if there is an enemy gun pointed towards you, there is chest of a Jawan of Indian Army in between, to take the bullet.

If today, we are eating sleeping drinking dancing Facebooking what's apping . . . in short, living safe & sound its because our men in uniform are out there to protect us with all their might and conviction & ready to lay their lives in the line of duty. . .

Even in Peacetime, when there is no war, no conflict, hundreds of soldiers, cops, agents from different security & intelligence agencies of India get martyred every year in order to protect the sovereignty & territorial integrity of our country.

Sometimes, I wonder. . . Why do they do so??

Do they and their families get a lot of money for choosing these professions? No . . not at all.

Are they not capable of doing anything else?. On the contrary, there are people in our armed forces who are much more talented than the high profile CXOs of big ticket MNCs. .

They do it . . . because they want to. . .

There are families in India, where a woman has lost her husband in the '65 Indo China war, lost her son in the '71 Indo Pak war & lost her grandson in the 1999 Kargil conflict.

. . . & sill kids from those families stand in attention as proud cadets in National Defense Academy of Pune or Indian Military Academy of Dehradun. . .

Those men in uniform are Indians; we are also Indians. . The difference is --- there is something which is nonnegotiable to them. . . and we believe in negotiating and debating every damn thing.

For example --- Protecting the Honor & Dignity of Tri-Color.

Our men in uniform lay their lives for Tricolor and we debate on TV channels whether one should stand up or remain seated when National Anthem is being played. .

I mean. .come on!!! How can even this be a topic of debate or discussion !!!

Let us stand up in solidarity with our men in uniforms cutting across Party lines, political ideology, and belief.

Let us tell our Men in Uniform -

We love you. . .

We respect you. . . .

& we care for you. . . . .

Let us not take their sacrifices for granted. . .

Let us make ourselves worthy of their sacrifices.

Wish you all Happy Independence Day.
