Found You

The Grade 9 students of Lam brook School in Cupertino were on a school trip. Their destination: Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

Excitement bubbled over on the bus. Some children sang songs, others clicked photos, and a few discussed their favorite rides.

Macey sat by the window, his guitar resting right beside him. A few seats ahead, Ira quietly cradled her flute.

At school, when Macey played the guitar, Ira would listen in silence. When Ira played the flute, the surrounding noise seemed to fade away for Macey.

They rarely spoke to each other.

Yet, they shared a silent, invisible language of music.

After a 500-mile journey, the bus finally reached its destination.

The moment they stepped through the gates of Universal Studios, the children let out joyful cheers.

The Hollywood sets, the giant dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, and the magical world of Hogwarts—everything felt extraordinary.

Macey and Ira were exploring the park with their respective groups when their eyes fell upon an old, abandoned set.

A weathered sign hung outside:

SOUNDSTAGE 13 RESTRICTED — NO ENTRY

Ira said softly, "It looks completely deserted. No one ever comes here."

Macey smiled. "That's exactly why I'm intrigued."

The side door was slightly ajar.

Quietly, they slipped inside.

Darkness enveloped them. Dust-covered lights, broken sets, and old musical instruments lay scattered in the corners.

On the wall hung an old board:

THE LOST MELODY PROJECT — 1998

Ira paused. "The Lost Melody Project?"

Macey stepped closer, spotting an old speaker and amplifier. "Must be someone's old music project."

He picked up his guitar and struck a soft chord.

Plink…

As if on instinct, Ira brought her flute to her lips.

A delicate note drifted into the air.

The gentle tones of the guitar and flute slowly gravitated toward one another.

Suddenly—

The old speaker hissed and crackled.

Both startled, they froze.

Then, an unfamiliar voice echoed through the room:

"You two... you've finally arrived."

The flute almost slipped from Ira's hands.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

A moment of silence passed.

Then the voice returned:

"Back in 1998, two young musicians composed a melody here. But they could never finish it."

Macey asked, "What happened to them?"

"They vanished suddenly."

Silence settled over the room once more.

"Their unfinished melody was left behind. For years, no one has been able to complete it."

Ira asked hesitantly, "What does that have to do with us?"

Macey looked at Ira.

The speaker replied softly, "Your notes hold the key to completing that unfinished tune."

Suddenly, a spark of light flickered from the old equipment.

A sheet of musical notation fluttered down to the floor.

Macey picked it up.

It contained musical notes, but they were incomplete...

Macey took hold of his guitar. Ira readied her flute.

This time, without even looking at each other, they began to play.

The soft strum of the guitar… Followed by the light, breezy notes of the flute…

Macey extended a note, and Ira completed it. Ira reached for a higher pitch, and Macey supported her with the guitar.

It felt as though they had been playing together for years.

Slowly, the unfinished melody began to take complete shape.

With the very final note, the entire Soundstage illuminated with a brilliant glow.

And then—

Complete silence.

The speaker delivered its final message:

"Now… you found it."

The lights clicked off.

Macey and Ira stared at each other in the dark.

Footsteps approached from outside.

Quickly, they slipped out through the door.

When they emerged into the daylight, Soundstage 13 was firmly locked and shut.

As if nothing had ever happened.

The next day, the school group was given the opportunity to perform at the Universal Studios Music Plaza Stage.

Their music teacher looked at Macey and Ira and said, "You two will perform a duet."

Macey glanced at Ira. A gentle smile touched her lips.

The stage lights flared to life.

They sat before the audience.

Macey struck the first chord on his guitar. Ira added the delicate, sweet notes of her flute.

The melody they had discovered yesterday in Soundstage 13 began to bloom into its full glory.

Macey began to sing softly:

🎶 FOUND YOU

In the silence, I heard your sound, Like a lost song coming around. I was searching, I didn't know why, Then your melody crossed mine.

Ira's flute chimed in, weaving through the space between the words.

Macey continued:

One little note, one little tune, Found me beneath the same moon. Two different hearts, one rhythm true, Somewhere in the music… I found you.

The flute soared higher, the guitar harmonizing right beside it.

It was no longer just Macey's song. It belonged to both of them.

Ira sang:

When the night is dark and blue, I hear a melody leading to you. Every note, every sound feels new, And all I know is… I found you.

Their voices blended seamlessly together.

Found You… I found you… You found me too…

During the final verse, the guitar softened. The flute lingered in the air like a long, gentle wave.

Together, they sang the final line:

"Every note turns toward you… Found You…"

With the last note, the music faded.

For a single heartbeat, the entire Music Plaza remained entirely silent.

Then, thunderous applause erupted.

But for Macey and Ira, in that exact moment, the only sound in the entire world was each other's music.

After the performance, standing in a quiet corridor backstage, Macey spoke softly:

"Ira..."

"Hmm?"

"Found You isn't just a song."

Ira looked up at him. "Then what is it?"

Macey hesitated for a moment. "I think... this song helped me find something."

Ira offered a gentle smile. "What?"

Macey didn't answer right away.

Ira murmured quietly, "Perhaps... I found something too."

They both broke into laughter.

No grand promises. No elaborate words.

Just a small, innocent feeling— They had found someone who made the music feel infinitely more beautiful.

Evening was falling as the bus journeyed back to the school.

Outside the bus window, the sun slowly began to set.

Macey pulled out his guitar and strummed a soft chord.

Ira answered it with a gentle note from her flute.

The other children on the bus were busy chatting among themselves.

But in the back two seats, a brand-new melody was being born.

Macey played the final chord. Ira added the concluding note.

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, that melody lingered in the air—

"Found You..."

Perhaps this wasn't an end at all. Perhaps today, two new notes had finally found the melody left unfinished in 1998.

And perhaps...

Sometimes, people cross our paths, and at first, we don't understand why. Until one day, the music whispers softly—

Found you...
