He knew today in the morning that this world is no more a place to live for him. He felt either he is not fit for this world or the world isn't fit for him. He wasn't able to satisfy anyone so far in his journey. Neither he is clever enough to tackle the people around him nor he has the talent to create a sustainable income so as to maintain the expenditures of his own or of his family. It wasn't so that he never earned anything but whatever he had earned and kept as savings is now being treated as no income. Because the demands have either increased or remained as they were but the supplies have reduced. Hence it is no more adequate. Therefore everyone including the family members is feeling utterly disappointed with him.

His name is Madhav Purohit. He is 50 years old and his family includes his parents, his wife and a daughter who has just completed her graduation from a local college. Madhav and his old parents are diabetic and have to consume antidiabetic medicines on a regular basis. His wife Manjula, a matriculate herself has always been a helping partner for Madhav. They had enjoyed a very good conjugal life until Madhav was affected by diabetes and lost his job. The disease affected his eyesight and gradually he became partially blind. Madhav was a senior accountant in a local private company. Mr. Juggat Sharma, the owner of the firm was not supportive at all. Neither he provided any financial assistance for his treatment nor he allowed him to remain on leave for more than a week. So he had to give up his job or rather he was forced to resign showing his physical disabilities.

After this debacle, he needed strong support from all his family members which rather faded day by day. His wife started taunting him every now & then and his dear daughter added fuel to the wood by making silly comments. The parents, though aggrieved and moved by the plights of their only son had to become silent onlookers because of their own helplessness.

So what else could he think of at this moment when everybody including his own body had parted ways with him? Now he could only wish for his death. And the sooner it comes better it would be. He had never spread his hands in front of anyone before. His friends suggested him to ask for help from the government and other charitable organizations. He also wrote letters to the chief minister and other government officials. But nothing had materialized till date and the situation has worsened every day.

So what is the next possible option for him? He could only opt for death which may resolve his own predicaments. Madhav knows it very well that it is an escapist attitude to think in that way. But he is in no mood to ponder on those theories which only decorate a philosopher's guide book. Practical life is better understood and depicted by the man who faces or tackles every vagary that comes each moment & each day. In the past few months, he has been hoping against hopes that his conditions might improve and some help might come. But nothing like that happened and he has lost all hopes of a recovery. So what else now? "Death wish."
