Dear Avni, 

As I was flipping across the tawny photos I recollected our college days. Hence, I couldn’t resist but write this letter to you.

It was my first day in college. While the crowd flocked me for my handsome looks, in the confusion you had fallen down. You had risen and were busy arranging yourself.

In your bright blue saree and braided hair, you were looking ravishing.

Next, we met in the teacher’s room.

“Hello, Sekhar!” Our departmental head, Dr. D’Souza introduced me to the teachers.

“She is Avni!” and my heart skipped a beat.

“First day?” I felt stupid but I was determined.

Oh my God! You were such a hard nut to crack.

“I can’t love you!” I was curious to know the pangs behind the smile.

“I’ve got an extreme condition of HIV AIDS…”

Can’t love is a cure-all?

It took me a fraction of a second but I gifted you my handmade card of love the way you had always wanted it.

Holding my hand, with the priceless smile you were released from your terrible pain.

I still write letters to you for I know you read them when I’m not around.
