Holiday Season

“Get out of this house! NOW!”

Poor Asha was shocked by the decree of her in-laws.

What was her fault? She stealthily sneaked into the attic and practised her hobby and passion- dancing. Despite repeated warnings,5D she hadn’t obeyed them.

Today, when the whole family was savouring their afternoon siesta, the sound of anklets woke them up. It had been a hectic day and she had resorted to her dance to escape the harsh wounds.

“Whoever has heard of a bahu dancing on her whims?”

“So, it’s more about ‘my whims' rather than dancing?” Asha's mouth just blurted out.

And, so who would think of keeping her again in their residence?

Surprisingly, Asha didn’t complain of this grave injustice. She silently packed her bags,

“Why don’t you beg them of forgiveness? They are pretty kind, you see. “

But she stared at her husband for a second and left the house.

She went to the railway station, got a ticket and sat by the window seat of the train.

A sly smile escaped her lips.

“Holiday season has just begun.”

Asha went to the village where her grandparents stayed. She told them everything. And, no one leaked about her to her parents.

Over there, Asha's parents got worried about her. Not a single day passed without her call to them. And, days had passed without a single phone call from her side. Even her phone was switched off.

They directly landed up in Asha’s house with the police. Now the in-laws were in deep trouble. As the cat came out of the bag they were severely warned by the police.

And, Asha returned after thoroughly enjoying her vacation. Watching the sun-kissed lush green fields, pollution-free clear skies, so many birds and flowers, she was refreshed, cleaned off the grime like the Durga visarjan.

As the crocodile tears and fake concern of her in-laws showered upon her, she nonchalantly disclosed her intention of seriously taking up dancing.

“Or else..?”

“We agree..”

“Good. Don’t dare forget.”
