Chakravarthy Ranch

There is a 17-year-old boy named Shaan surviving all alone in a post-apocalypse after a nuclear war. The mother and sister were victims of the war and were dead when Shaan was at the age of 14. Father Chakravarthy took care of Shaan and helped in learning survival with nature. Shaan learned farming, archery, making some mechanical tolls to cut trees, setting traps for wild hogs. Breeding the goats, hens, dogs, wild hogs at his palace which has a safe distance from nuclear tragedy. His place actually has some algae, fresh air, growing trees. Also learned communications using radio devices. Both Father and Shaan have time allocated to look for survivors. They used Flypapers, sending an audio broadcast to the last satellite.

One fine day, they got a return signal on the Radio and they were providing their whereabouts. They were saying, it’s their family consists of 4 people including a girl child, his teenage son, wife, and husband. Chakravarthy was familiar with the location and tried to give the directions, but they could not follow them. So, Chakravarthy had to leave the place to get them safely. Informed Shaan to be safe and will be returning in two days. He carries food for them as well. After reaching the place, the information provided in the broadcast was wrong and there were only 2 male people who were desperately looking for food and shelter. Chakravarthy felt sympathized and did approach them but with caution. They were introduced and food was given to them, half of the Chakravarthy carry load was down and he felt relieved. The two people after having food wanted to come along with them. Chakravarthy found something fishy with these people but did want to take them to his place. So, they started moving, on the way Chakravarthy told all about his place. He has a son, some cattle, hogs and all and it takes 5 hours of walk to reach there. They were so happy to hear it all. They were getting more anxious to reach. Chakravarthy heard some voices behind him and found some people were following him. Chakravarthy was not prepared to face the consequences if they were bad people. He suddenly got a cautious sense of a greedy old world where people kill other people to survive and have plenty for themselves rather than sharing.

He got an idea, so after 4 hours of walking, he found a cow wandering near home and said finally we reached our home. Let's move in, they were surprised as nothing that he said was nearby and wanted to confirm. Chakravarthy said Shaan might have taken them for grazing nearby our garden. They will be returning before sunset. We had a long walk, we can have rest in the home till my son returns. Suddenly two other guys with guns approached forward and Chakravarthy was not very surprised as he sensed it earlier. Then he asked them what do you intend to do with guns, and why did you hide from all along till now. They reply we are a backup and we have no trust in anyone. We are mostly looking for a fertile woman and food. We don’t see fertile women at your place but we see food which we will pick from hereon and we do not need you anymore so we intend to kill you and your son.

The two gun holders were nearby the trap and Chakravarthy led them to the trap and finally pushes the lever with which both of them were set in the trap. The other two got alerted and started throwing stones towards him. Chakravarthy got hurt and escaped from them. Two of them who were in the trap were set free but were badly hurt and the other two tried to find some band-aid in the home which is more like a disbanded place. Then they understood, Chakravarthy led them to the wrong place. Could not see both of them moaning from pain, they kill both of them and started the hunt for Chakravarthy. Chakravarthy knew their every move and killed them both too however, was badly hurt. He, however, managed to return home by morning in a very bad state.

After waking up in the morning, Shaan did a daily patrol on his farmland and found Chakravarthy lying in a pool of blood. Shaan took him home and started treating him, he gained consciousness and told everything by which he understood the dangerous minds of other people. Somehow, Chakravarthy managed to live for 6 months and provided information to Shaan of the pre-disaster life of human beings. How the first world war and second world war changed people, greed has consumed people, and still, it exists. So, Chakravarthy advises Shaan to be cautious with people and also informed not all people are like that. You need to be able to sense good people also among them. Remember your purpose and take what you want and share with others as well. Shaan kept everything that his Father said and stayed by him till he was dead.

After Chakravarthy has died, Shawn buried him in his farmland and he used to live alone. After few months he felt very lonely and wanted to have a companion. So, he started communication on the Radio again, after few days he started getting replies. The responder told their location and wanted to know his location. Shaan does not want to have a fate like his father so he gave a manipulated address as a backup plan. Shaan estimated it would take nearly 5 days to reach the place he provided. It is about half a distance from Shaan place so he used to leave early morning and set up a decoy camp. Set some food for 4 days or so including a communication device. After 4 days he could notice few people coming from a long distance. He wanted to know them, so he used binoculars and find that they were a simple family consisting of a young boy, a young lady, two elderly people along a young man.

After they reach the location, a beep comes from the radio device. The elderly person picks up the device, Shaan on the other side tells them to have food and rest, and he is on the way. Shaan waits till morning and thought people are simple and can be trustable. So, he approaches them directly along with a weapon. He interviews them all, after finding them all genuine, he answers them the actual place is half a day from here and we can leave to there now.

On the way, the young lady, Rithika gets attracted to Shaan and tries communicating with him. The other young man is a fiancé of her and is getting jealous of the pair. Shaan noticed that and he did not want to be a jerk so he distances himself from the lady however Shaan also has feelings for her. The lady's father, Jaggaiah is also not very happy with Shaan's attitude, he felt Shaan was not strong enough in both mind and power and will be defeated quickly. The Young man Amar assumed the same and thought he could tease him and gain an impression from the lady.

After they reach the ranch the whole family were filled with joy after looking at so many cattle, farms,s and all. Jaggaiah and Amar communicated with Shaan and know everything from Shaan about the ranch. Little did they know, Shaan always has a backup plan for everything. Amar assumed he knows everything and started teasing Shaan for which he used to counter quickly. Rithika used to laugh at Amar all the time getting humiliated by Shaan. Amar and Jaggaiah started having grudges against Shaan and they wanted to kill him and keep the ranch to themselves.

Shaan never used to stay with them and at the night he was always away. They never could trace where he used to go. So, in the morning itself whenever he is available they were ready to kill him, next day they get the information that he is in the farmland. When they reached the farmland he was not there however his Horse was standing there. They started looking all over the place. He could sense that they were trying to kill him. Using archery he hit Amar from a tree, for which Amar collapsed there itself. Jaggaiah was so scared and ran to their family and told them that Shaan killed Amar and we should leave otherwise he would kill us all.

Shaan reached the home and told them you guys do not need to leave and can stay here as long as follow my orders. This is my father's ranch, I inherited it and I will take care of it. Nobody can harm me here, I know every inch of this place, you go anywhere or have any negative thoughts about me, I will know it and I am always two steps ahead of your thinking. So, your honeymoon period is over now, everyone needs to contribute to the ranch to earn food. The elderly lady says, you killed our future son-in-law and now you want us to serve you. We refuse to do it, and we will leave now itself. Shaan got very angry and yelled, nobody will leave this ranch and will do exactly as I say otherwise you will have the fate of Amar. They were very scared and started being obedient to him.

Shaan asked Jaggaiah to reach the farmland with a crowbar and after reaching there they gave Amar a proper burial near the forest and left home for the day. From the next day, everyone has got work allocated and was doing their work. Shaan gets time for himself and he has his eyes on Rithika, but Rithika hates him so much because he uses all his family as a slave and doesn’t like him anymore. Shaan tries to flirts with her and she throws a tantrum for which he says to shut up and continue the work. After few days, Shaan gets more obsessed with her and wants to touch her and he always tries to get near to her. Inside she also likes but she shows as if she did not like it. Their family people were staring at them, so he left from there. From the next day, Shaan called Rithika only to farmland and they both worked together in the farmland. One day they got close and Shaan kissed her, she acted refused and finally gave up. From here, they used to be intimate daily, Rithika used to act refused but finally did everything they both wanted. After few months Rithika was knocked up, Jaggaiah stared at Shaan. Shaan could not stand before him and left from there.

Jaggaiah family although was happy that their daughter is pregnant, they are not happy it is due to Shaan but they could not do anything about it and accepted the fate with still holding the grudge. Shaan too maintained a distance from them still because he does not trust them including Rithika. This rage continued forever but nobody harmed anyone.

The moral of the story is – If those four people were showing gratitude to Chakravarthy who offered food to them, they would have lived now and the situation would be different. The same happens to Amar as well, he might have had a family with Rithika if he was showing some gratitude towards Shaan. The Jaggaiah family would not need to live as slaves if they were showing gratitude. Always be grateful for what you have, don’t be greedy or hasty for what is not yours.
