Art Is Dead

Keiynan Wilson was a legendary director for film junkies but he never had commercial success, nor had he won any award for the movies that he directed in his five decade long career. He was tired of being great in whispers of the world but was never acknowledged by any memento to cherish the praises. By the time he released his seventh movie which took him ten years to make, he had realised in this birth he won’t be getting any nomination, let alone winning an award. So he decided to make a movie meant for the masses only and then retire.

At five years, he came up with the first draft. At the pitch meeting, the producers made several cuts and instead added some portions from the previously successful movies. In the end, the story didn’t look what Keiynan had written –as he said it had lost the essence- but he decided to go with it- though hesitantly- as he thought those people knew what the audience wanted to see. The story was about aliens- since that’s what made up top 20 highest grossing movies- who were sending mutated cows to the earth and drinking their milk was making humans mutate to the aliens’ desire as they were performing experiments on human race but two human; a man and a woman- who were vegan since the movie was produced by a vegan milk producing company and as they won’t drink cow’s milk (finally Keiynan found something that made sense)- they didn’t mutate and then they somehow fight with their brain against the aliens with all kinds of dangerous weapons.

They both eventually win and repopulate the earth. Keiynan wanted to cast Kelly Goldman and Jack Nelson for the roles but they weren’t pretty enough for the public, so the production company hired Nancy Clark and Henson Hailey; the former was twenty five and had gained popularity on the social media app called ‘Actit’ while the latter was a fifty two year old celebrity; who had been playing a bad guy who falls in love and becomes a good guy but now wanted to try something new. Keiynan was uncomfortable with the age difference and the fact that Hailey was supposed to play a teenager but his concerns were rubbed down by the producers as he was such a great actor to make people believe that he was in fact a teenager and in his presence who would notice the actress. He was assured if he felt the pair didn’t look good, he could replace the actress at any moment.

Others technical crew was provided to him without asking as who cared about anything else in the movie. The shooting started and Hailey objected some of the scenes and hence they were changed to fit his wishes. The CGI team was specifically asked to insert great cinematic fighting scenes between aliens and Hailey as that’s what attracted younger audience. The movie was edited and released.

Keiynan’s eighth movie broke all the records and became the highest grossing movie in the history ever. The government declared it tax-free and announced its novel version would be taught at school. Award season came and the movie swept every award it was nominated for. Finally it also got nominated for sixteen Golden Guard Award, the highest award anyone in film industry could get and ended up winning ten, including best lead actor for Hailey, best lead actress- though Keiynan thought the actress only had a ten minute screen time, so she should have won for supporting actress- and best director for Keiynan and best picture for the producers. When Keiynan got on red carpet with the award for interviews, he was startled to see that the reporters were, in fact, cows and so did the cast and crew of his movie. He was the only human standing among the herd. They mooed to honour him. A spaceship appeared over his head in the sky. As the light from the UFO fell upon him, he started levitating and then slowly faded….
