A Story Within
A Story Within
As a reader what interests me in reading a story is the personal connection. I believe in the fact that any story with a personal connection will add value. In the course of my life, I had come across reading, listening, watching & experiencing several stories. The journey of my story listening evolved as I grew up. As a kid, stories from the epics Mahabharatha & Ramayana, Tales of Panchatantra & Akbar-Birbal held my interest. Autobiographies, Biographies, success, failure, love, political, Humour stories & so on fell in place later on.
The story is broadly understood in two ways.
1) An account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment.
2) The story is an account of past events in someone's life or in the development of something.
This is the story of a story that has an inner voice. Can we imagine a life without a story? No. Our day begins with a story. A school kid quipping with mother, A student turmoil of his/her exam results, Working woman work-life balance, Parents struggle in providing a good life to kids, Giving birth to a girl child, Grandparents in old age homes, Manager-Employee bond in a corporate, A daily wage worker sailing rough waters in meeting his/her ends during Covid-19, A monk who dedicated his life for the welfare of the society, A soldier standing in the border, A sprinter winning the race, A businessman establishing a conglomerate, are all stories.
Failed success stories of entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates; writers like J.K Rowling, Stephen King, Leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson-Mandela, Creators like Walt Disney, Steven Spielberg, Scientists like Albert Einstein & Thomas Alva Edison are remarkable & Inspirational. Failed successful stories or successfully failed stories- I like reading them.
Having quoted several stories, I realized that I started to have opinions, expectations & hope.
Nebulous will be the result of a story if it does not have a purpose. Involuntary was my drift in holding an interest in stories with the human touch.
What is that I expect from a story now? Moral, learning, humor, empathy, information, Knowledge, or Inspiration.
The apprehension of the story is a personal takeaway.
