A Reforming Journey

Once or more Harish turned his way to meet his bosom friend Daniel whose friendship he procured while being a student of Oxford University during 1970s.Harish, though established in India, his motherland since three decades ago he was always keeping touch with Daniel over phone. While playing with his grand children he often remembers the evergreen periods of his student's life abroad. He was fully Indian. He also with his wife Madhavi spends an idealistic life now after their son and daughter were well established in Saharanpur. They are also awarded with an Appreciation Certificate by the local people as a decent couple.

As Mr. Harish is an Indian aeronautics engineer in his forties each year he avails LTC facility to travel with his family as per his choice. This year he opted for paying a courtesy visit to Los Angeles. Because he has a long cherished desire to see Mr. Daniel, his bosom American class mate who is the permanent resident of Los Angeles. He booked the Air tickets and started his journey with his family consisting of four members including himself. On the eve of New Year the family of Harish set out for Los Angeles from New Delhi Airport.

They reached their destination. Daniel and his family members greeted Harish enthusiastically and bugged one another. After a long interlude getting with his bosom friend Daniel began to plan for an entertainment program. Daniel arranged to have their supper in Cat Club. Both Daniel and Harish are fan to their own cultures respectively. Harish was a follower of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha whereas Daniel was the strict follower of Lord Jesus. Everyday at home Harish perform prayer and worship with his wife Madhavi in front of the deities in the morning and evening. On the other hand Daniel was plying to Church on each Sunday with his wife Liza to offer prayer. But on that day of their get together at Cat Club something seemed to be disorder in their spiritual stand point. An odd gesture captured the emotion of Mr. Daniel at the nick of the movement.

It was night 10 O' clock. After being satisfied with their supper, both the family member got a chance to have a cordial chat with one another. But Daniel was thinking otherwise as it seemed. Then he requested Harish, " Dear friend come on. Let us dance together " and offered a glassful of Champagne made in Cyprus and beckoned Harish to dance with his family. However, Harish was unable to refuse his American friend fully. But he refused to drink and both the family members enjoyed the dancing ceremony among all the participants of the club.

In the mean time the club dancing was over. All the co- clubbers moved to their personal rooms to sleep. Harish also felt drowsy and wanted to move to his chamber. But Daniel requested his Indian pal again, " Dear Harish please let us enjoy partner swapping which is a common enjoyment in our western society to boost up loving family relation. " Whimsically Daniel approached Harish. Then Harish was stunned at the solicitation of Daniel. His moral and the whim of Daniel clashed with each other. In monogamous culture wife swapping is taken for granted as a sin. Indian culture doesn't recommend partner or wife swapping. Hence he strongly refused the sinful proposal instantly. Daniel was little bit disgusted and told Harish with his pale face, " Dear friend OK if you don't want, stop swapping. I just wanted to develop loving relation between our family. Let us go to bed. It is midnight. "

Harish complied with his friend and proceeded to his club room with Madhavi to sleep. Daniel did the same. They spent the night at club house and in morn after taking breakfast they returned to Daniel's residence. That was Sunday. Daniel went to church and Harish prayed Radha Krishna Jees. In the evening two friends were at home. After taking tea and snacks both the friends started discussing about the partner swapping. Harish was unable to convince the adversity of this ultra modern tradition as Daniel was obstinate. But Harish again tried to convince him, " Dear Daniel you have a misconception about the particular term LOVE. Love is always sacred and eternal. Lord Jesus and Lord Krishna were the harbingers of love. They taught the mankind what is love in true sense. Human Love is not at all carnal but cordial. Love to body is not true love. Love to heart is the perfect love which is demonstrated by both the lovers of the mankind. Lord Jesus was also influenced by the Indian philosophy as well as theosophy during his stay at Kashmir. He possessed a practical knowledge about the true love. He knew that love is just like a nectar that passes from man to man since the time immemorial and sublime the human life. Lord Jesus returned to Israel and started preaching about the eternal love which is only attached to human heart. Lord Krishna also a great lover of mankind who among sixteen thousand women followers(Gopis) with the chief follower Radha was able to maintain his self continence and did not touch their bodies for sex but rather for cordial love. Such type of love is called as everlasting love which was practically proved by Lord Krishna. Moreover there is basic resemblance of character and behavior between Lord Jesus and Krishna. If you blot out the letter of na from Krishna you get Kris means Chris ( same pronunciation ). Monogamy is recommended by all prophets for a peaceful and loving family life. But you plead for wife swapping which is not a symbol of a decent culture. If any one practices swapping tradition one must lose one's peaceful domestic life, no doubt. Sex between the couple only meant for procreation i. e. to keep up a future descendant for maintaining generation after generation. Sex is not a trifling thing rather it always ranked higher to carnal. If you want to exchange your wife or vise versa it may not be compatible at all time as it is only body oriented. So come on dear Daniel we will pray Lord Krishna and Jesus only for five minutes here to have the proper charm of conjugal life. The pleasure which you will derive out of the prayers, you will never derive the same out of sexual intercourse in partner swapping. It is just momentary not everlasting pleasure which you know as love. This type of habit will drag you up to the hell not up to heaven. By this way you are going against the will and advice of Lord Jesus, the only son of God. Mind it dear friend. "

The gospel given to Daniel by Harish had put a tremendous impact on the mind of Daniel. Eventually he realized the true sense of human love. Besides he felt the spiritual effulgence of Lord Krishna and adopted Him as his perfect guide. Next morning Mr.Daniel and his family members accompanied Mr. Harish's family members to India by flight. Daniel adopted Lord Krishna as his family master. He prayed and worshipped Lord Krishna and Mother Radha regularly at their home after returning from India. Now Mr. Daniel and his family members became the sincere devotee of Lord Krishna. Daniel changed his name as Damodar. Accordingly all of his family members also changed their names into Sanatanee names. They also joined ISCON for regular Kirtan and prayers and lived a spiritual life full of Divine bliss. Though Harish was educated in America and influenced by the American culture, at present, he was proud of declaring himself wholeheartedly as a true Indian which conception gave him eternal bliss for ever.
