A Ray Of Light

A Ray Of Light

She stood by the window looking at the winding road, how cluttered the early morning hours seem! A giant crowd of vividly coloured vehicles jostling for space, the occasional rickshaw or a bicycle trying to push its way through the infinite queue of cars, the honking horns, the high pitched bells, some loud voices of hawkers on the roadside competing with each other, everyone seems to be in a hurry to reach his destination.

And here she was! No goal, no destination to reach, no hustle bustle. Life appeared to have come to a traffic junction where the light was always red and it's just three months post-retirement. Going to 'satsangs', gossiping a little with ladies around and a bit of housework...and then just the idiot box ...is this all?

As she turned around with a weary step, her attention was suddenly caught by a few kids near the sidewalk. The half-clad malnourished caricatures intently looking for something valuable in the pile of garbage, occasionally picking and putting things in the tattered rucksacks they carried on their tiny shoulders and behold! She saw a light on the horizon, a lit up the board which read "Vatsalya” a school with a difference".

As she walked out of the room she could notice the rays of light filling up the room and with a spring in her step she began preparations to enter a new phase of life.!

Too much work and too little time!
