A Pauper And His penny...

There once was a pauper, eldest child amongst his nine siblings. His father hardly earned enough to feed two square meals for this huge family.

The pauper worked through his school lunch breaks, lifting heavy sacks of grains, loading and unloading them from the trucks on his back, sweat dripping down his brow, his clothes soaked, ran back to school just in time before the break got over.

Making enough to feed his siblings, he studied till matriculation. Gradually, saving penny by penny, managed to open his own grocery shop with a partner. He worked extremely hard from early morning till midnight, day in day out without taking any holidays. Thus, making his shop a big success. All through this his wife standing by his side like a rock.

This pauper, who saved pennies to feed his siblings, to make his dream of having his own business come true, is none other than my FATHER.

I look up to him, he's my hero in more ways than one. To date, at age 77, he doesn't waste a single penny, still travelling in public transport, though the cars are idling away in the parking lot. He wears the simplest of clothes, just two pairs. He has been lending money to so many relatives and friends, helping them buying their dream homes, starting their dream businesses, there are many who haven't even paid back! He has been donating to many charities with noble causes. He has inculcated his motto of, 'Simple Living High Thinking', in all three of his children.
