A Little Birdie

A Little Birdie

Just a few meters away from my workroom on the terrace, I saw a little bird on the wall. She has been visiting me for months now. Except that today is special- because, I chose not to shoo her away unlike every other day when I immediately sent her away as soon as she landed on the wall.

She kept looking at me every now and then - perhaps surprised that I let her stay today. She did stay for a while and then when I was buried in my work, she must have flown away without a hint.

The whole experience got me thinking- What is the reason for my ugly behaviour all these months? Why did I have to panic that a free, happy, independent bird would hack into my computer when in reality she herself had an envious life? Do I own this planet? Why do I want to amass all the space that is truly meant for all beings and not just humans?

I am glad she stayed on the wall for some time and gave me good company. I am finally relieved that I stopped being stupid and refrained from sending the little beauty away.

In life, we all do this more often than we can acknowledge. Our fear of potential danger sends us into a destructive panic mode. So much so we attend to it by dropping everything else. Indeed at the cost of our own peace of mind. In the process, we end up not understanding very well the real dangers of life while we are after harmless, non-existing perils. God help us!

As I sign off from work today, I eagerly wait to see the little bird tomorrow too.
