A Late Night Swim

Our school had once arranged a school stay trip, and after many days of argument, my parents finally gave in and agreed to send me there. We were going to stay at a resort, which was approximately 3 hours away from home, and it was a stay for 2 nights. It was gonna be fun. I packed my bags, and was present at school at exactly 6:00 AM. We boarded the bus, and we were ready to go!! Sitting beside me, was my best friend Giselle, and behind us, Anna and Nora and behind them, Jamie and Yuri. We all were very close friends. At the resort, we got our rooms. They were FANCY!! There was an A/C, 3 huge beds, and the bathroom was amazing! It was a total delight! There were 6 children in each room. And thankfully, we got to choose our roommates. So, I was with Giselle, Anna, Nora, Jamie and Yuri. There was also a HUGE water park in the resort, but to our disappointment, our teachers didn’t allow us to get in. But we played a lot of games in the evening on the playground. We also got to know that the boys’ rooms were total crap, they didn’t even have beds, nor did they have the A/C! I mean like, that’s not fair!! Thank god we got nice rooms! As soon as it started getting dark, we had our dinner, and everyone was sent to their rooms. “NO ONE is gonna sneak out, and no lights should be on after 9 PM. The coordinator will be taking a round at 9:00 PM to check on you. IS THAT CLEAR?” The teacher said.

 After getting settled in our rooms, all the 6 of us gathered on one bed, and discussed. “Why aren’t we allowed to go to the swimming pool? I mean, the pool is soooo huge and nice, I really wanna go check it out!” Yuri exclaimed. “You’re right, I wanna go swim so bad!” Giselle agreed. “I haven’t gone to a swimming pool since like forever cuz of this damn COVID! Wish we were allowed tho…” I scoffed. “Seems like everyone wants to swim today.” Anna smirked. “YES, OF COURSE!!” We all answered in a chorus. Suddenly, our conversation got interrupted by the coordinator shouting. “Why are your lights not switched off? It’s 9:01 and you guys are still awake? Switch off the lights RIGHT NOW!” We all turned to see our coordinator, Miss Dorothy, peeking in from our window. “We’re s-so sorry miss, we will switch them off!” I said as I hurriedly went to the light switch and switched the lights off. All could see was just darkness. Suddenly, I saw 5 pairs of eyes staring at me. I flinched before I realised they were just my friends. I slowly climbed on the bed as it creaked. “Since we all wanna go swim,” Nora started. We all heard a click. A dim light spread all across the room. “It’s just my torch guys, you can continue, Nora.” said Jamie. “So…. LET’S SNEAK OUT!” said Nora, as the torch light flickered and soon went out.
