A Dream Fulfilled
A Dream Fulfilled
The period from Sep 2016 to Sep 2017 as Assistant Professor at Amity University, Gwalior Campus, Madhya Pradesh is the most interesting chapter in my career. Getting a call from the university asking me to appear for an interview was a big surprise. As part of the interview process, I had to give a demo and the topic I chose was Trigunas. It went well and after a few more rounds, I did get selected and decided to join the university and start a new chapter in my career.
My joining took place sometime in the middle of an ongoing semester and even before I could get acclimatized with the dynamics of the department, I was asked to take immediate charge of the classes of one of the faculty members who resigned on very short notice. The subject I was asked to teach is ‘Behavioural Science’ for both UG and PG which is offered to students across departments such as Engineering, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Management, etc. It took almost a month for me to understand how the same subject with the same syllabus has to be delivered differently to students from different disciplines so that they would be able to establish a real-life connect. Within no time, I could win the confidence of almost all the students with my pleasant disposition and positive outlook.
In the new semester, I did get an opportunity to teach Psychology for Undergraduates along with CBCS and Behavioural Science. It was altogether a different experience and the kind of creative assignments designed for students along with diverse ideas for their seminars, term papers, project works is beyond words. This one year has added immense value to my life as a teacher and gave me the confidence that I touch the future I teach. I take this opportunity to thank Eirene Ma’am, the Director of our department who has been very supportive and I can never forget the intellectual discussions I had with her and my colleagues. My heartfelt gratitude to everyone in the university who made this journey a memorable experience.
