Tholi prema (first love)

Today as soon as I turned the television, in one of the telugu channels, I noticed the telecast of the movie Tholi Prema (First Love) which was released in the year 1998. I was 21 years old when I first watched the movie and today when I watch the same movie after two decades, I experience the same mix of emotions in the same degree. Perhaps this has been one of the finest movies of the 90s which portrayed the concept of Love in the most decent way.

Though there exists a vast difference in the life style, attitudes and aspirations of the hero and the heroine, the initial turn of the events in the movie establishes such a bond between them which helps them transcend all the barriers with the support of their family members and friends. Though the theme seems like love one sided, the climax makes things more clear where the hero does not allow the heroine to forego her admission in Harvard University for the reason of realizing her love towards him. Instead he encourages her to fulfill her dream and mentions clearly that this is what true love expects from each other.
