One day, Thanappa, the postman, who always talks to people on his route, delivers a letter to Dr. Raman. Dr. Raman is a well-known doctor who is called only when life and death situations arise. Dr. Raman receives the letter from Thanappa and is about to open it when Thanappa reveals that he has already read the letter and it is about an emergency situation in the next village. Dr. Raman looks puzzled and angry yet gets ready to handle this case which he thinks, has a 1/1000 odds of surviving.

Dr. Raman reaches the next village and sees the patient in a terrible condition. He spots the astrologer sitting there, the same one who recognized Guru Nayak in a bet. The astrologer, who knows nothing about astrology predicts that Rajam Iyer, the patient, will soon recover.

Suddenly, Dr. Raman spots a smile on Rajam's face and decides to play along. He fills a glass full of water and gives a calcium tablet to Rajam. He then tells him that he will be fine in the next few hours and decides to wait there.

Within a few hours, Rajam appears fully recovered and Dr. Raman is puzzled again. As he steps out of the house, he spots Swami playing with his friends outside. Suddenly Shanta walks in and snatches the ball away from Swami and runs. In the process, she has a head-on collision with Rama Rao, the man who just lost his gramophone business and was sitting under the tree to solve the magazine crossword contest. He gets angry and shouts when suddenly Attila the friendly dog starts growling at him. Rama Rao is scared but then realizes that it was not growling at him but at Ranga the thief, who was standing behind the tree. All of them surround Ranga and recover the stolen jewels. "What a day!" thinks Dr. Raman as he heads back home.
