A Day At School

One of my friends is working as a BT assistant at school. I'm working as a computer assistant in an office. We are roommates.

 One day, my friend Alice came to the room with a mournful face. I had never seen her like that before. She was a jocose person and would not get disturbed easily.

I asked the reason for her doleful face. She narrated the incident that happened at school. 

Today, at school, our HM called and told me to take care of higher secondary public exam paper stitching work. I had a class for 6th std. I told him, Sir, I have 6th std class for next two periods.

Which is important for you, now? 

 "Sir, taking a class for 6th std is also important.

Ok, Ma. You go. I'll assign someone to this work", HM answered angrily. 

I went to ask an apology to him. "Sir, excuse me for my mistake. Hereafter I'll not do it. I will take care of this work.” 

No need! You may go now. I will keep it in mind and know what to do. You are always opposing my instructions. I have noted it many times. First, you learn to accept what your higher official says.”

We had a meeting in the evening. Our HM was explaining about Attendance App that we have to mark our students' attendance. When he called out my name, I surmised that he would assign that work to me.

I stood and said, Sir. 

Immediately he said, "You can't say 'No’ to this work. You must do it. I remember the incident that happened in the morning."

Before all of my colleagues, he uttered these words. I felt humiliated. He shouldn't talk so. He would have called me to his office and said about it in person.

This society is expecting women to be subservient to men. She should always nod her head and say, 

"Yes, Boss! Yes, Boss!" for everything. She doesn't have the right to express her views. The male Boss should understand the emotions of his female workers. 

The Boss should come to the level of his workers and understand their difficulties. They should think of how they reached this status. 

The Boss should give some respect to his workers. There are many crooked men in this society. They should be weeded off.

I consoled my friend and discussed the present scenario. 

"It is the responsibility of the teachers to change the mindset of the future generation."

"Teach your students about gender equality.”
