Our Constitution- the law book of India has given immense happiness to those seeking of it. Justice has been served. The idea of unity in diversity rings in all the citizens’ ears. The fundamental rights that the Constitution of India has vested have done good to many. India’s values have been protected and respected by the framers of this ‘Indian Bundle of Compromises’. It makes sense to commemorate the day this law book was established, to be grateful to the people who articulated the rights of citizens that institutions, procedures or legislation must not infringe, and which the state must strive to ensure. Republic Day is the day when India marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950. It is named as ‘Republic Day’ because after India became a free and independent nation in August 1947, it declared itself a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state with the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950. As New Delhi, the capital of India, houses the Parliament, every year a grand celebration is held there.

On this day, ceremonious parades take place at the Rajpath, which are performed as a tribute to India; its unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage. The Delhi Republic Day parade is held in the capital, New Delhi and is organized by the Ministry of Defence. Commencing from the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Raisina Hill on Rajpath past the India Gate, this event is the main attraction of India's Republic Day Celebrations and lasts for three days. The Beating Retreat ceremony is held after officially denoting the end of Republic Day festivities. It is conducted on the evening of 29 January, the third day after the Republic Day. It is performed by the bands of the three wings of the military, the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. On the eve of Republic Day, the President of India distributes Padma Awards to the civilians of India every year. It truly is a sight to see as India honours B. R. Ambedkar and others who worked day and night and gave in everything they had to make India the nation who it is today.
