5 A.M Calling

5 A.M Calling

Since I was a child, I have kept one habit constant in my life - waking up at 5 A.M. This habit has not only made me productive but also kept me mindful and alert throughout the day. However, I cannot take the credit for the routine because it is my mother and father who incorporated it into mine and my sister's schedule. Since we saw our parents lead by example, it became all the more easy to adopt such a powerful habit. And waking up even early too became a norm for our studies and exams.

One day, very recently, since I was unwell I woke up quite late after extended hours of sleep. The experience was not so bad. I wished I could wake up early even on bad days but sometimes you just have to listen to your body. And yes, your doctor!

What I did the whole day later was sad though. I felt "guilty". For no reason really. Of course, sticking to a great schedule helps but there are going to be exceptions in life - you are unwell sometimes, just too exhausted perhaps on a few days or have other priorities to attend too late night and hence you wake up late. This does not mean you are lazy and don't care. It just means exceptions happen in life.

Today I don't feel guilty unnecessarily. At least I am trying. And it feels so much better.

Again, for this shift of mindset I can't take credit for myself. My parents helped me understand it fully. I am so thankful and so blessed.
