Until the Light Lasts
Until the Light Lasts
The light, like a beacon, slowly burns
On the still and suffering rose
The weeping child's heart slowly turns
In gloom and silent repose
The crisscrossed beams of the morning sun
Cast no cheer into the air
For the new day may herald the time has come
For the last and final prayer
What dreams she had, forever locked
In the hidden tapestry of her mind
Lost to the mist, that in silence, mocked
The tiny hope she'd pined
Each dazed, dim and dying breath
One step closer to peace
That she would find, at last, in death
In that oblivion's sweet release
The flame flickers, the end is near
The time for hope is past
Courage Mother and never you fear
Your helpless, determined son is here
and here he'll stay - until the light lasts
