UNSPOKEN CELEBRATION

UNSPOKEN CELEBRATION

When the girl child’s opinion turns bold from coy,

And kitchen sets are accepted as toys for a boy.

When fathers change diapers, wash dishes and cook,

And mothers get to unwind with a drink and a book.

When she fears no stalker who sets up a snare,

And she isn’t labelled ‘slut’ for the choice of her wear.

When secretaries aren’t hired for sensual appeal,

And her work place woes she needn’t conceal.

When at the fine diner she foots the bill,

And he wears a condom to save her the pill.

When she strays and admits it, expressing regret,

Cajoling her faltering he is willing to forget.

Then true equality will be celebrated, needless to say,

Through surprises and bouquets, ‘Happy Women’s Day’.
