Two Scenes On The Road
Two Scenes On The Road
They had crossed
The age of imagination
Now, in the age of
Anxiety and apprehension.
Holding the hands very tight
They stood amidst the crowd
Just to cross the busy road
Few more steps down the lane
They still had to cover
To reach their desolate abode.
There was a mental traffic jam
The senses were blocked
By the threat of being hit
Or crushed under the wheels.
The signal turned red
And the wheels got a rest.
The minds became alert,
Pressing the hands even harder
They stepped on the zebra and moved forward
And vanquished the threat of danger!
Stepping out of her large gate
She seemed so casual and sloppy
Captivated by the chords
With the earbuds attached,
Least worried for the approaching peril
She walked on the midway
As if on a ramp!
She was in her twenties
With a broader outlook
Free from all responsibility
In search of a thrill of pleasure.
The bikers, the drivers
And the men around
Just stopped once
And flicked through
And passed sideways!
