Though I Was Safe
Though I Was Safe
It was another dark and scary night
The moon was too stubborn to spread its light.
The night got nothing but darkness to wear
And my eyes were filled with unknown fear.
To cover the distance from my office to my home
I had no option but to stand and wait alone.
I stood silently on the road
Waiting for the bus which I could board
Cursing my nature, my work, and the place
But to my wonder, there was utter silence!
No stars, no human nor a voice to be heard
But the corner at a distance kept me puzzled.
A light very dim and some shadows passing by
Some murmurs, some laughter, and a bitter cry.
My mind, my heart, and my body had a fight
With all suspicion, I stood very quiet.
My power, my grace, my passion all buried
The woman inside me was found deceased!
For I remembered the warnings given to me
Sensing the danger I could not be free.
"Oh! It wasn't me", I was very glad
I boarded the bus with all thanks to God.
To review the episode I could not dare
The next day had the news though not very rare
" A girl was found dead after a rape"
I lost the peace of mind though I was safe.
