Thrill Of Riding A Motor Cycle

Thrill Of Riding A Motor Cycle

Out sped a motorcyclist roaring and booming down the Eastern Bye-pass,

Rattling and sputtering tried overtaking it, a honking dilapidated Mini Bus,

Zig-zagged the sleek motorcycle, swaying precariously from side to side,

Whistled and hooted the rider with gusto, enjoying thoroughly the ride.

His helmet which was loosely tied flew joyfully behind him like a kite,

 He overtook the other vehicles-- once from the left, then from the right.

Helmet-less the pillion rider sat casually as if he was without any worry,

The duo had to reach as fast as they could, so they were in a mortal hurry.

The sinewy arms of the rider glistened in the sunlight as recklessly he sped,

The bright russet hair fancifully cut adorned his defiant uncovered head.

He yelled, whooped and bellowed, his feverish excitement knew no bound;

Such youthful exuberant abandonment elsewhere was not normally found.

The bus driver honked continuously, as the race he had to win at all cost,

It was his ego that came into play, he felt as if his self-esteem would be lost!

 As he accelerated, the motorbiker veered dangerously, this way and that.

An on-coming rushing truck nearly collided with it, so as to land them flat!

Another motorcyclist came speeding and hit the first biker in a flash,

There were a deafening screech and a resonating sound of the crash.

 In one moment the bikers were lying on the road lifelessly sprawled;

It was too late for the rush hour oncoming traffic could not be stalled.

Their heads came under the wheel, their skulls grotesquely cracked,

The sinewy arms were badly broken as if they had been hacked;

Blood spurted out from the mouth, the unseeing eyes blankly stared

Mangled bodies lay in a pitiable heap for there was no one who cared.

The flamboyant hair, dyed russet, was matted and soaked with blood,

Their whoops and hoots were silenced; they could not utter a word;

 So youths’ bravado came to a sad, sad end--the thrill was not to last,

 As everything comes to a tragic end when the body turns to dust!
