I’d go bonkers if someone didn’t let

Me watch cartoons on TV.

There was a time when

Mom and Dad used to sleep

In the same bed at night.

There was a time when

Grandpa would take me out for an evening walk

And we’d come home to black tea and biscuits.

There was a time when

I liked to read books and spend the entire day

Just locked in my room turning pages

Ignoring the psychological torture Mom

Had to undergo.

There was a time when

I loved to cycle alone

On empty streets

blazing past houses like

Kamen Rider.

There was a time when

My cousin squeezed my breasts

and private areas

Put his hand over my mouth

To shut out the screams.

There was a time when

My classmates used to bully me for being fat

Ganging up to punch, kick and tear away at

My dignity and I’d come home bruised

And scarred.

There was a time when

I loved a certain girl

who was my best friend

and could

Never love me back.

There was a time when

I failed in Mathematics and Physics

because I couldn’t understand

Calculus and Mechanics.

There was a time when

I tried to kill myself

By overdosing on sleeping pills

Yet woke up 3 days later puking my guts out.

There was a time when

I could recognize my reflection

Nowadays, I just see an invisible

Monster.

I hope my time

runs out
