Rat-Racer
Rat-Racer
This is the tale of yet another rat
Whom the society label as 'man',
Running feverishly in the race of life,
'Cause slowing down to breathe was not in the plan.
Buried under others' expectations,
And faced with behaviours rough,
He keeps his emotions tightly shut
'Cause a man is expected to be 'tough'.
Judged and ridiculed after every failure,
Tired from the never-ending war,
Some decide to pause, they never make it again
While some decide to quit altogether...
The eulogies pour after their demise
With requests for others to "open-up"
Alas! they we
nt quiet after being vulnerable,
'Cause you made them feel foolish enough...
Some are not so unfortunate, however,
And find the support of a few other rats...
Where he gets accepted the way he is,
Since they have no norms or formats.
Measured by the money he rakes in,
Regardless of the work, he has to do,
And since society abandons a 'loser',
He will succeed eventually, 'cause he has to...
Thus continues the journey of another rat
Whom the society label as 'man',
Running feverishly in the race of life,
'Cause slowing down to breathe was not in the plan.
