Lost Soul

The reflection in the mirror isn't mine,

A lifeless creature, his eyes without a shine.

The surroundings suddenly seem so gray,

I want to escape somewhere far, far away.

Afraid of waking up to the harsh morning light,

Struggling to put up a face looking alright,

I wish the night never ends at my place,

It's the sleep in which I found solace.

Avoiding the people who make me smile,

Afraid to hurt them with my words so vile.

I want to run away like a wounded hare,

'Cause I'm not worthy of their love and care.

Unable to confide in my closest peers,

I'm held back by some unknown fears,

The mind is raging inside with wild emotions,

Reacting violently to even the slightest commotions.

It's time to hide this emptiness,

Maybe mask it up with a mock happiness,

And continue like this to feign my sobriety,

Until this fake behaviour consumes the reality.
