Depression

Depression

She used to smile all the time,

Depressed, no she wasn't!

What no one saw

Were the tear stains on her pillow,

Nobody noticed her fascination with the night

And the fear of the daylight"

She wanted somebody to notice,

But didn't have the courage to tell,

Because she thought it was her fault

That she could not see the world with a positive mind.

Those rare moments, when she did show her pain;

Family and friends called it a phase,

All they said, "it's just overreaction ;

Leave her alone and she'll be OK".

Wishing, somebody could see,

Her fight with her own mind;

her daily struggle to fight the sadness,

Hidden behind a fake big smile.

She needed somebody to talk;

But according to the people;

Mental illness is something to be hidden away;

Or respect in society is all forever lost.

Tired of the fight, she lost her light;

Embraced the dark, after she couldn't fight.

Now you grieve, call her a beautiful soul;

But when it ached, you called it a phase.

She used to smile all the time,

Depressed, no she wasn't!
