In Loving Memory
In Loving Memory
Standing on the tranquil seashore,
The water gently kissing our feet,
We held each other in our arms
Somehow, we were destined to meet.
We would always fight, barring one affair
The honeymoon plan after our marriage:
Escaping into the serenity of the countryside,
On a horse drawn four wheeled carriage.
Our long day at work, for all the worldly matters...
Unwinding? It was an easy choice!
I woke all night for your non-stop chatter,
Immersing myself in your soothing voice.
Then one fateful morning, life came to a halt
On the TV, read the headline cover,
"Terrorist attack on Army Hospital"
Within six hours, it was all over.
Outside the dimly lit morgue,
The gentleman was speaking in a low tone:
"She protected four children, she was very brave"
I stared at him blankly, I just lost someone I had known.
At home, next to the tricolor wrapped coffin,
With the Gun salute piercing through the sky
I stood motionless, posed in attention
My heart shattered, but head held high.
